Help me stop wasting money on hair products..

I've got 2b hair and it's fine but alot of it.
I usually dry it and straighten it but recently I've got along of spiky little hairs along my hairline and it's time I look after my hair properly.
I don't want to do the curly girl method as I want less oomph! I've done plopping and my hair goes really wavy which I hate..
I want my hair to be flatter and less fluffy when it's wavy. I've bought curl creme, mousse, gels And salt sprays but they either make it too greasy looking or font do enough to stop the fluff.
I would like to let my hair dry naturally as I do overheat it but the only way to get it less fluffy is to straighten it but it's a chore to have to totally straighten it every time..
I like my hair to look clean and not full of products.
Any help on something to try?
My budget isn't huge so high street stuff would be best really

Rather than straightening properly could you just pass the straightener over a section of hair quickly? I don't know how to describe it. I don't straighten mine but I have very thick tongs and I just do a very fast pass over each section, that seems to ease the frizz massively.

I've done exactly that this morning. I think that I need to get the right products and then it will hold it better. When my hair is wet it has lovely waves and then as it dries it gets bigger and fluffier. So I end up shoving it up... I also think I need to grow it a bit as the weight pulls it down.
Just need a magic wand now to get hair past my shoulders!!

What about putting on a gel over your mouse. This will help the hair dry in its waves then once it's dry scrunch out the gel.
I alternate between curtly/wavy and straight. My hair is 2b too and fine. This work for me when I'm wearing it curly.
