Where should I look?

Does anyone else struggle with looking lumpy with Bravissimo? I’m fairly slim but always come out of Bravissimo with flab I never knew I possessed squeezing out under my arms and on my back. I could never wear a tight fitting top with a Bravissimo bra! Plus, their bands have a habit of (painfully!) rolling up on themselves.

Looking at items #2 and #3 on their bra fitting guide I can see that an underarm boob is seemingly a side effect of a good fit?

I’ve been fitted once (many moons ago) by Bravissimo and it put me off a bit because the bra I was offered did make me look lumpy...and I was really slim at the time! I will be giving them another go after I’ve popped though, have always heard good things and appreciate I may have just had a one off bad fitting.

Unfortunately I had exactly the same thing with bravissimo about 5 years ago. I never been back since. I use triumph now as they seem far better

They always recommend a really tight band so if you have any fat at all on your back or ribs, and I mean any, you get will lumps and ridges.

TheSockMonster · 17/06/2021 10:20

To be fair, I do carry my weight on my back, but I was lifting weights with a PT twice a week the last time I was measured there, 5’ 6” and an 8-10 in clothing. I joked to the fitter that it looked like I was wearing my boobs on my back with one “well fitting” bra.

I do have a couple of their bras, but usually leave empty handed.

Freya deco

I go to this factory shop usually once a year - stock can vary but it's worth a trip to have a look depending on where you are. www.wacoal-europe.com/factory-shop.aspx

I'm on a budget; a good budget choice is the DD+ range in Peacocks. For some insane reason most of them are not online and you have to go instore.

Also, I've recently bought an excellent bra from Sainsbury's, it's actually a sports bra but I'm wearing it as an everyday bra and have even ordered two more because they're so good. My band size is 38 and usually I go down to 36 for sports bras but for this one 38 was fine and because of the racer back a 36 might have been difficult to put on. I really can't emphasize enough how comfortable and supportive it is, I'm so pleased!

Depends what style/brand suits you
I can recommend elomi but you might find panache work better. Trial and error unfortunately!

Ooo might go back to Sainsbury’s and have more of a look, glad I didn’t get lucky with a one off decent bra, racer backs are great too.

EvelynSalt · 17/06/2021 12:57

Gossard fan here. They have an Outlet section and some brilliant deals - I usually only ever buy the sale bras.

AnneLovesGilbert · 17/06/2021 14:05

I vote Asda which has been a recent revelation. I’m a 32gg but found their 32g fits nicely in several different styles, even very supportive non-wired ones.

Kicking myself for spending so much in the past because I didn’t realise how many cheaper places do larger cup sizes.

LeSquigh · 17/06/2021 16:09

I also use Fantasie, they are supportive, non frumpy and fit me really well. They are fairly expensive but any decent supportive bra in a big size is. I pay £30-40 a bra. I am a 36FF.

lindyloo57 · 17/06/2021 16:21

@Blueballinthegarden they look great, i might order some, is the size good, the model it say is wearing a 34c but it looks a bit big in the cup she doesn't seem to have any bust above the cups at all, you would think with a c cup there would be some , or is that how you are supposed to look in a strapless, I must be wearing the wrong size.

Blueballinthegarden · 17/06/2021 20:51

Tbh, I took a bit of a punt size wise and actually nailed it (certainly not an expert but wires not sitting on breast tissue etc etc) - strapless is going to be quite tight anyway to hold everything up and in so guessing not too much bust showing?

StCharlotte · 18/06/2021 08:53

Call me old fashioned but I always go back to M&S minimise bras. I'm a 42DD. Very comfortable and supportive.

According to "boob or bust" I'd be something ridiculous like a 34M Grin

I genuinely don't understand the very tight band thing. Looks awful and I don't want to be so aware of my bra.

lindyloo57 · 18/06/2021 12:58

@StCharlotte I'm with you, I wear 34 dd boob or bust make 30/32 f or g could hardly breathe. It's ok if you are very slim with no fat, otherwise it looks awful with rolls of extra flesh above and below the bra band if it's too tight.

Pinkerbells · 22/06/2021 18:16

I'm a 38GG and m&s or simply be are both fab and comfy. They also (shock, horror) look pretty in colours other than black, white or skin!

backtonormalonedaysoon · 22/06/2021 18:22

Bravissimo own brand is the best imho

Jacquiereid · 22/06/2021 18:49

I have probebly tried wvery bra going over the years.
I have now happened upon Wacoal,American brand I think and the halo bra is awsome.
Comfortable, sexy, comes in loads of colours and gives a great natural uplifted shape..
