Bravissimo not selling clothes anymore

Received a customer letter from Bravissimo to say that they're going to discontinue their clothing range, and just sell lingerie and swimwear.
Some of their clothes I found poor quality, and they looked cheap, but I've had some nice things too.
I liked their cut, which had more boob room: no need to size up to allow for bust size, but then find the rest of the dress/ top too big.
Anywhere else, either online or on the High Street that would compare?

Oh say this isn't true! It's the only place I've bought dresses from for years. What a shame

UnaOfStormhold · 15/06/2021 21:32

I'd noticed their clothing range seemed to be becoming more and more limited and wondered if they were phasing out. Such a shame - some of the stuff was a bit hit and miss but oh the joy of having a plain white shirt that doesn't gape over the bust. Might go and have a last splurge :(

That’s a shame, I love their clothes but they are so expensive that I normally get them via eBay- maybe that’s why they aren’t selling enough 😬

bellabride · 15/06/2021 21:35

UnaOfStormhold, yes, I've noticed lately that there was nothing new coming out.
I kept checking the website, hoping to see some nice new things for summer, but it was the same old stuff.

Main issue with their clothes is the fabrics. I refuse to pay lots of money for clothes made from manmade fabrics

Eachpeachpears · 15/06/2021 21:36

I'm gutted to hear this. I've had a few lovely things from there, although it's very expensive for every day so I can't say I'm surprised

Somuddled · 15/06/2021 21:40

In a past job I visited the factory of one of their suppliers in China. They talked a lot about the clothes being a real challenge to make, providing so many different sizes options means smaller volumes and less use of existing programmed patterns to cut. Although the didn't say it directly I got the impression they were done only to hold on the the lingerie orders. Anyway, long ramble to say, it's a shame but I am not surprised.

larrythelizard · 15/06/2021 21:54

I've always struggling with the length of their clothes although shirts etc from there have been very handy.

Have recently seen next does a fuller bust range and discovered a small company on Instagram called Fairlie curved which is also OK

NotMeNoNo · 15/06/2021 21:56

I received the letter too. I emailed straight back to say I hoped they would carry on with night wear.
It's not hard to work out that the extra sizes and small runs are going to put a premium on their garments. You either pay for fit or fabric, it's not fair to compare with standard size clothes. I'm not surprised with the race to the bottom in fashion that they can't make it work.

I did say the denim jackets are brilliant and I'm proud to own one.

GoofyIsACow · 15/06/2021 21:59

Yes I got the same letter, i mostly bought basics like t-shirts and vest tops with built in bras etc. It’s a shame but I can understand the reasoning.

Fitforforty · 15/06/2021 22:01

Oh no. I’m so disappointed.

DramaAlpaca · 15/06/2021 22:01

I haven't had the letter. I'm sad to hear this as their clothes fit me really well. I've a couple of wonderful jackets and a maxi dress that I love.

bellabride · 16/06/2021 09:58

larrythelizard, been looking at Fairlie Curved, and it looks promising: I'd never heard of them.
Might get a t shirt to try them out.

I have a disproportionate bust but never found anything I liked the look of, also found it very expensive. I can imagine it must be v difficult to offer the same garment in so many different combos though. To me some of their clothes looked like they were accentuating the bust when I like to hide it away a bit under more skimming fabrics.

For nightwear, I'd recommend this bra from M&S which allows you to buy 'normal' stuff. I am 30FF and got a 10 which is a v good fit.

I also always liked to look at their stuff but rarely bought. I begrudged paying so much for poor fabrics, though now I’ve thought about it I understand about the small runs, etc. I also agree with the PP who said a lot of their things seemed to accentuate the bust whereas I like to balance things out a bit more.

2andahalfpints · 18/06/2021 09:01

Following for suggestions of where to buy nice dresses that fit well!

Bryonyshcmyony · 18/06/2021 09:04

Doing such a huge range of sizes is unsustainable for any business, particularly middle sized ones

JeanClaudeVanDammit · 18/06/2021 09:06

I used to really like their dresses for work, but thought they’d gone down hill over the past few years. Still a shame that they’re stopping altogether.
