I know you can't spot reduce fat, but I'm going to ask anyway

My thighs are like this. You could see my ribs all clearly outlined though, if it was my upper half shown bare. So not simply 'fat'.

Am I doomed to ever more chunky thighs as I age, or would anything make them less chunky without rest of me becoming scare-crow? Just canvasing for ideas. I'm age mid 50s, get about 2 hours exercise/day but limited in what exercises I can do due to long term problems, especially in knees and shoulders. Thanks.

Late 40s. Mine look similar (on a good day, in good light). If I was celeb with teams of thousands to throw at the problem I'm sure there are solutions. But I'm not and I haven't.
A sarong works wonders on the beach, as does my shortie wetsuit
My husbands eyesight is such that he can't see without glasses
I found reading the beauty myth helped, turns out this isn't a problem to be fixed 😊
Good luck whatever choices you make xx

IDidNotSignUpForThis · 15/06/2021 15:37

OP- you look fabulous. Don’t be so hard on yourself. You have a fantastic figure. You are standing in really harsh sunlight- every picture you have ever seen of celebs has been carefully lit for maximum flattery. Even so you look great. Work on your self- esteem, not your thighs!

Miseryisabutterfly · 15/06/2021 15:51

Mine are like this too. They have been forever. My children have cellulite despite being trim and active. I think it’s genetic unfortunately.

JaneJeffer · 15/06/2021 15:52
If you're willing to do all this. I prefer the take off your glasses method. It's a good explanation of what causes cellulite in any case.
Lovemusic33 · 15/06/2021 15:59

My bottom and thighs are the same, even when I get down to a size 10 they look the same. The only thing that’s helped a little is doing squats (lots of them) but I soon get bored and think “fuck it” 🤣

You look amazing by the way, most women have cellulite, it’s totally normal. Though like you, I spend my life stressing about it.

Years ago there was a Rosemary Conley Hip and Thigh Diet.
That was basically to not eat anything above 4% fat

OnOldOlympus · 15/06/2021 18:24

Dry brushing helps reduce mine, but yes as others have said, more women have cellulite than don’t, it’s just one of those things!

SirenSays · 15/06/2021 18:30

I don't think her legs look chunky at all. Just maybe she's not blessed with the biggest booty. I'd do more training that targets that area. Resistance bands and weights will build your butt

cheezy · 15/06/2021 18:30

I think OP is asking less about cellulite than size of thigh..?
No answers I’m afraid, though apparently rowing can help slim down thighs I’ve not tried it.

In that case I don’t have any suggestions either, but if it’s any consolation the big thighs and bum look is very popular at the moment and lots of young women train at the gym or have surgery to achieve what you have naturally, so I’d embrace it Grin
callmemaybee · 15/06/2021 19:03

Sorry to hijack the thread OP, but my first thought was those non-surgical fat dissolving procedures I’m seeing all over social media at the moment! Seems like it would do exactly what you’re after

However I have never tried it, so I guess my question to others is, have you? Does it work or is it just marketing?

callmemaybee · 15/06/2021 19:04

I think it’s called laser liposuction but there might be other non-surgical methods too

SallyCinnabon · 15/06/2021 19:12

Are you sure it’s cellulite? I am generally what people would consider slim and toned but my thighs are like that OP, in fact they’re more wobbly, the rest of me is what people consider toned and in shape. I had cellulite in my legs since I was 9 and was very skinny, but it wasn’t cellulite it’s actually lipoedema www.nhs.uk/conditions/lipoedema/
There’s a Dutch instagrammer called Niennke who posts about it.

Mellonsprite · 15/06/2021 19:17

I think it’s genetic. I have and have always had very chunky legs with poor muscle definition. Even when I was underweight I had an overlay of fat on my thoughts and knees.

theweebabydonkey · 16/06/2021 07:42

Aqualix (sp?) is the fat dissolving injections. My friend swears by it but I've never tried it. It's super super painful apparently

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 16/06/2021 08:35

My thighs are like that , I don't think I'll get rid of it now but wear paper bag flappy shorts that shoe off my waist but cover the flabby bits !

Queenoftheashes · 16/06/2021 08:45

I’ve had cool sculpting on my back to reduce back fat. Unfortunately I’ve eaten like a pig ever since. But I can see the fat is reducing in that area.

ILoveShula · 16/06/2021 10:36

You could try dry brushing, massage and watching what you eat and drink - not necessarily low diet but cutting down on caffeine and the like.

I just slap on fake tan and hope that it might disguise it a bit.

ExConstance · 16/06/2021 10:58

Pilates is the exercise for a lean toned body, it won't work miracles but if you do classes regularly you will certainly see an improvement. Not that you need a miracle, you look very nice as you are.
