Smart girls clothes for Sixth Form

DD is starting a new school for Sixth Form, and they're quite strict on the dress code - suits in black, navy, grey or brown, blouses, no T shirts etc. The guidance is to dress as though attending a formal interview.

DD does not do formal wear very well, and I'm anticipating this to be a problem. She's quite quirky in style, and I think would like to be able to show off some of this personality, but I don't think it will be acceptable.

Anyway, I wondered wear your girls buy these kinds of clothes? My go to would be Cos, but think that may be a bit grown up for her tastes. IS there somewhere that does a goods range that teens like?

My yr12 dd got her clothes and blazers from H&M and Zara. Also some nice blouses and shirts from primark. Her dress code is like yours.

I would hold off buying much until she's started and seen how formally the girls actually dress. I have a very quirky-styled dd also about to start 6th form, but in the school she already attends (and where dh works). Although the policy stipulates 'Business smart, as if for an interview', this is very loosely interpreted in practice! Very few girls wear formal jackets/blazers and all kinds of quite alternative looks seem to be accepted. My dd seems to have decided her look for 6th form will be black jeggings trousers with loud shirts and DMs.

H&M absolutely the go to for jackets and skirts/trousers. Also tops/shirts which can be the outlet for the quirkiness if allowed

Thanks all, and apologies for some howler typos!

My plan is to shop light at the moment, but it's slightly come to the fore as she's due to have a few taster days next week, and I'm presuming (yet to confirm) that she'll need to be dressed appropriately. We did a tour a few weeks ago, and most girls were wearing very short, tight skirts and jumpers over their blouses (but they were also doing end of year exams, so had been allowed a bit of leniency), definitely NOT her style lol!

Will try to take her on a bit of a shopping trip to get one appropriate outfit!!

We found this tricky, especially as DD is very petite (5ft3) and insisted on plain black. In the end we found trousers she liked (cropped black) in the petite ranges at Miss Selfridge and Dorothy P I think (RIP) and a jacket that didn't actually match but you couldn't tell from Wallis petite range.

She used to get non-T shirt tops from all over - New Look, Primark, Zara, H&M - just anything that was not T shirt material. All budget and all fine. She wore Doc Maertens shoes which lasted really well.

She refused skirts btw and I was relieved in a way as the skirts favoured were real skirt belts. I actually think the boys look fantastic in their smart suits (DS2 has just left yr 13 and had a suit from M&S and one from DKNY!! was his prom suit tho) and the girls look very sloppy! Trousers were better than skirts at least.
