Do you wash moisturiser off?

Okay so I know that the answer is no, but I can't find a moisturiser that sinks in well enough to let me apply foundation without little bits coming off in my hands! I applied moisturiser hours ago and I can still get bits coming off now. Are there moisturisers out there that work properly, or should I be washing it off? I feel so stupid for asking Grin

I would exfoliate at night, especially if your skin is dry /sensitive/ you don’t usually exfoliate. Depending on the strength of the product make sure you use spf 50.
Some moisturisers do kind of go flaky, I know what you mean. I use Liz Earle /Decleor products, a skin oil maybe better for you. I’m older now, so my greasy skin is now more combination.

@AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken

I make my own face mask. One shot of ground coffee beans. One shot of honey. One shot of coconut oil.

I use it every other night. I leave it on for 5-10 minutes then gently wash it off. I follow it up with a bit of argan oil.

It’s made a huge difference to my skin and my the look of my make up.

I would have thought it would be too oily (I’m quite spot prone) but during the first lockdown I had to improvise when I ran out of my usual stuff.

@AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken that sounds worth a try. I’m still a bit spot prone, ☹️ but only bonus is no wrinkles or lines and I’m 43, so not bad lol

@Suzi888

I think, being spot prone, I was using too harsh chemicals so my skin was over compensating with oil production. Now I use more oil based I don’t think it needs to.

That’s my guess anyway!

Good luck! It’s worth a try

@AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken completely agree, I really went to town on my skin when I was a teen. Sad The things I did to get smooth skin, I can remember using a pumice stone once! Surprised I didn’t do lasting damage.

What vit C serum are you using? I used GOW vit c with ferulic and everything I put on top pilled loads. Changed back to Khiels and the problem stopped.

I have dry skin and have to use fairly expensive moisturiser for it not to feel weird e.g. Ren although I find M&S Formula a v good medium cost range. I use Simple cleansers to balance out the cost Smile

I haven't tried the BB cream but like No 7 City Tinted Moisturiser and some but not all of their foundations.

Pretty sure pilling is due to silicone rather than dead skin cells. If there is silicone in your moisterizer and in your foundation it's too much.
Have a Google which ingredients are silicone - usually end in 'cone' then check the products.
I have dry skin and various products have pilled over the years. It's very frustrating when you've spent time putting doing your skincare and putting foundation on for it all to bobble off again!

Some foundations/base products pill (those little bits you’re getting) when theyre applied on top of some moisturisers. Try either a different moisturiser, or a different base product.

I noticed this when I used my Kiehls sunscreen under certain base products, it would all pill up so theres ones I dont use alongside it niw
