Help with choice of bag colour

I'm buying a mulberry Darley satchel as a small bag for the summer, I have a black mulberry small crossbody pouch and a small Louis Vuitton cross body (old). So tan and black are covered.

So do I choose grey or oxblood? I wear a lot of floral and soft pinks, yellows and green.

Thank you!

Oxblood is standard, we're at the end of the grey fad. Grey may become classic, but we need another many years to know that for sure. Oxblood is fabulously versatile.

Procrastatron · 09/06/2021 18:32

What’s the grain on the oxblood?
The leather on my grey Alexa (a few years ago) was too soft and it’s not lasted (scratched, scuffed, too weak in structure)
Should have gone for one of the more robust textured coated leathers… they even told me that in the shop but alas I was in my grey phase

MrsWidgerysLodger · 09/06/2021 18:49

Oxblood for sure! More classic and I think it goes better with your colour palette.

paradyning · 09/06/2021 19:15

Oxblood is a classic but with the colours you describe wearing I would go with grey.
I love my oxblood but I wear more autumnal colours.

CheerfulBunny · 09/06/2021 19:21

The oxblood is a bit sexier IMO and would be lovely with navy. As pp has mentioned, grey might be a flash in the pan and I feel like the oxblood is more classic and you'd get more year-round wear out of it. I'm not mad on the two tone in the grey either, but hey, what a lovely dilemma to have!

FindingMeno · 09/06/2021 20:18

I think either, but the oxblood would be my pick.

Spied · 09/06/2021 20:22

I prefer the oxblood but associate oxblood with autumn/winter.

Onlinedilema · 09/06/2021 20:25

Unhelpful I know.

SoapboxFox · 09/06/2021 20:49

I'd go for grey with the colours you like to wear, and also it's more summery than oxblood.

permaconfused · 09/06/2021 22:18

Thanks all, still don't know what to do, need to go along to the shop and try both but really need to make sure what I'll get more use out of.

I probably need it in oxblood, grey, black AND tan 😀

There’s a beautiful sage greenish colour in current Mulberry season that would make a lovely summer accent colour and would go well with the colours you wear.

I, too, see oxblood as more of an autumn/winter colour (although I do use my oxblood/burgundy bags in the summer sometimes with specific outfits), so I’d not get that this time around.

Ninkanink · 09/06/2021 22:25

I don’t really think grey is a versatile colour, tbh. It can look very flat and really only looks good with certain colours. I think it would deaden floral patterns, for example.

Ninkanink · 09/06/2021 22:26

Mind you grey and oxblood do both go beautifully with yellow. Maybe you can just wear yellow all the time!

(I think I’m just biased because I love the green so much)

permaconfused · 10/06/2021 07:25

Oh gawd, I'm now thinking tan??

Is it not the most versatile colour??

My 'tan' LV bag is in the monogram so not great with pattern.

Help!

Tan is fantastic and will go with everything, and works just as well in summer or winter.

There are 10 colours to choose from www.mulberry.com/gb/shop/women/bags/mini-bags?query=small%20darley%20satchel&page=1&hitsPerPage=36
Including dark golden yellow.

Eek I was going to use a grey bag with a kimono style jacket this weekend, it has flowers on it...
Ninkanink · 10/06/2021 10:04

Don’t mind me too much! I’m no expert or anything...It does depend a lot on the specific grey as well.

It’s just a personal thing, I tend to find grey a bit ‘flat’ unless it’s a warm grey, but that’s probably because warm colours suit my skin tone and my wardrobe so that’s what I’m used to seeing/wearing.

Wear your bag and don’t worry about it! 😊

TheGlassBlowersDaughter · 10/06/2021 10:08

I'd opt for the pastel blue with the colour palette that you wear.

Ninkanink · 10/06/2021 10:12

Yes pastel blue is another great colour. Would go brilliantly with summer colours. Might not work as well in autumn/winter.

Ninkanink · 10/06/2021 10:13

(But then you are getting it to be a summer bag, so that’s not actually an issue - I only mentioned it in relation to versatility.)

Ninkanink · 10/06/2021 10:15

Ohhh I love it in the light salmon! But I already have a small Darley in Rosewater which is quite similar...
