you havent got it wrong, ignore.

pirategirl · 20/11/2007 09:58

i did that and it cma eup with a ridiculous size, whzt do you actualy measure under your bust?

dressedupnowheretogotilxmas · 20/11/2007 09:59

use bravissimo's guide to measuring at www.bravissimo.co.uk

MrsBadger · 20/11/2007 09:59

where did you find those instructions?
40A sounds most unlikely

pirategirl · 20/11/2007 10:00

the thing is, many many bras don't come in very variable sizes.

The sizing is not stangardised right thru, a bit like any other garment we buy, ie trousers, jeans.

I use to work for Rigby and peller, and tbh its not surprising its hard to find a rba that fits, but I may be able to help you.

Sounds wrong to me.
Have you measured the ribcage under your boobs to get the 40 figure?

Measure ribcage.
Measure boobs at widest.
If difference is 1 inch = a cup
2 inches = b
3 inches = c
4 = d
5 = dd
6 = e

etc. 30J myself!
HTH

the other prob is, that when yo measure the fullest part of boobs, it could be say 39, but one person's boobs might be 'longer, or fuller' than the nexts. So when you gather them up and put them into a bra there mgiht be more volume.

We just have to find a cup that the boob wil fit into, coupled with a comfortable fit around the chest.

Avoid stretchy bras, stretchy thin straps. Too much 'give' in the material means less support, more movement. less comfort.

Found this link very useful as a guide.

Bra Size

IMO you should go and be fitted properly.

I went to Selfridges last night and was fitted - they don't use tape measures in there at all (I don't think they do in Rigby and Peller either).

I went in wearing a 34B which I knew was wrong. I'm actually a 30DD and the bras she put on me were amazing - fit perfectly and made such a huge difference to my shape.

Spent a small fortune as a result but well worth it I think. The lady that did my fitting was brilliant.

susiemj · 21/11/2007 16:52

I did something similar when I was first pregnant and came up with a bonkers size lke 38/40. I think I used the M+S one. It was wrong!

bigspender30 · 21/11/2007 18:18

does everyone add 4 or 5 inches on? I don't do that.
