Can I wear navy linen trousers all year round?

I've ordered a pair mostly for work and most surprisingly for me they fit beautifully.

But I work in school so only have 6 weeks of summer clothes left. Do people wear dark coloured linen in winter or will it look ridiculous? School is baking all year round so warmth not an issue (once we can close the windows!)

I dont see why not (but I should be here to receive advice, not give it) BUT, linen is crap against wind and rain so playground dutys, and life outside school might be a little chilly!

Are dark colours not allowed in summer? Dammit, missed yet another memo.

Umm. No, the dark linen are for summer I'm wondering if, being linen, they'll also work for winter.

I don't see why not. Out of interest, where did you get yours from? I bought some last year, but they were cheap, and I presume the linen is a low thread count, so after one wear you can see the shape of my knees! Note to self, not to be seduced by price again! :)

Mine are from Monsoon.

I think Line does do that though. You need to get in that habit posh men have of hitching trousers a bit when you sit down.

I wear a lot of dark-coloured linen in summer, and my conclusion is that it doesn’t work in winter for me, but that’s because I walk everywhere and it doesn’t deal well with rain and cold. If you are literally only wearing it indoors in an overheated building, it may be different.

I think it might look a bit odd.

FWIW, I had a pair of navy linen trousers from Monsoon and I took them on holiday to Asia, wore them loads, when I came back the hems fell down and I took them back for a refund! Crap quality.

Ah thanks. Just saw your other thread. I'm the same height, so good to know. I don't think of Monsoon, since ours shut.

I don't think they'd work in winter but on nice spring days and into early autumn too they'd be fine. I'd say as long as it's dry and warm-ish they'd be fine.

I think it is fine into about September, and then linen would be far too fine a fabric here. I would freeze in linen trousers!
