Hollywood wax help

Hi everyone, so I'm wanting to book my first hollywood wax 😬 but feeling a bit anxious about it - any advice for the first time?
Thoughts on if it would be better to ease myself in with a Brazilian first or just go for it? I'm researching locally for just a waxing specialist rather than a beautician that offers a mix of treatments.
Sorry for asking on here but none of my friends get waxed so i can't go to them.
Thanks 🙂

Take two paracetamol. They'll do nothing but at least you tried.

Seriously though, get someone with recommendations and like you say a specialist. Done wrong it's nasty.

Definitely find a waxing specialist rather than a generic salon. I would say just go for it, I have everything waxed & honestly after 2/3 sessions it much less painful. The first one will sting a bit, but a good waxer will use hot wax/sugaring on the intimate areas rather than strip wax and work quickly. The hair grows back softer and does get less noticeable in the grow back stage, it's great not having to shave!

The only difference between a Hollywood and a Brazilian is that with a Brazilian you will have a strip of hair on the front of the pubic area. Some waxing places don’t differentiate between the two. Both will remove hair from the labia, bum and buttocks.
Most female waxing places will specialise in hot wax and intimate waxing.
You will always have the option to stop whenever you want if it is too much.
Look for local recommendations online.

Sugar waxing all the way! I had it done just before labour and there was no pain at all. No joke!

Book it in the week after your period, as you have a better pain threshold then apparently.

If you find someone who does things properly, the first time is the worst, but it is really not that bad. On that basis, l would just go for the full works.

As PPs have said, avoid going just before a period and take a couple paracetamol one or two hours before. I would also avoid sex for a day or so after the first time.

In the longer term, the body seems to settle to it.

It really does feel better, especially in the warm weather.

But be prepared for the “removing hair is evil police” to take over this thread. Ignore them.

Thank you all - seems like i should just go for it! Shaving just doesn't have the same affect does it.
One more question - do you still get the dreaded itchiness when the hair starts to grow back? Or because the hair is softer does that not happen?

OP, remember we are all different. It’s likely to itch a little the first few times but it gets less and less.

If there is any itchiness, wash the surrounding area with hair conditioner. That will moisturise too. Take care on the lips though.

You’ll find it all becomes second nature.
