Hello Smile
I'm looking for some recommendations for clothing shops please.
I am a secondary school teacher, looking to brighten up my wardrobe for the warmer weather. I have to dress quite professionally, and usually wear black or navy trousers with a blouse, or a dress and tights.
I am finding that the summer clothes in the usual places I shop are not really appropriate for my job (the dress code is fairly strict - chest and shoulders need to be reasonably covered, dresses need to be knee length or longer, shoes need to be closed in and not showing toes / heels etc...) And also not appropriate for my body type - I'm a size 14 and whilst this is an average size, I do have lumps and bumps to disguise, so I tend to go for clothing that is quite loose around my tummy area.
At age 29, I'm finding styles are either too young for me, or too old, if that makes sense!
I usually shop in places like New Look, H&M, Dorothy Perkins...
Do any of you know of any clothes shops I could try for some new summery work wear?
Thank you in advance for any recommendations you can give me! Grin

I got some maxi dresses with sleeves from Jolie Moi recently - they're ideal!

Apricot is surprisingly good for this sort of thing.

Thanks so much both! I will have a good look online later! X

Boden. They have pockets! I buy dresses second hand off eBay for work.

Boden was a MN discovery for me, but their dresses are comfy and have pockets. I've got some nice FatFace dresses, but have found their offering recently to be a bit twee and unflattering for me.

I wouldn't wear a maxi dress to work and I'm a teacher too so I completely get where you're coming from. I struggle not being able to wear open toes too in summer.

I've just bought 2 pairs of cropped linen wide leg trousers from Sainsbury's. Cool, comfy and smart with a short sleeved top/blouse
Also wear midi skirts quite a lot. My school is reasonably relaxed re:dress so it's quite easy.

A recent gem I discovered by accident as a similar size- Michelle Keegan at Very has some lovely, and really well cut dresses. I think at the minute on Very she's mainly got sundresses but could be worth a look on Ebay or for future reference.

Have a look at Next. I have a plain, fairly loose shirt dress from there that I wear and wear.

Thank you for all the recommendations Grin

I have a few Hush Kensington’s I wear for school.
Today I’m in black trousers and an orange and white patterned cotton blouse from Next.
All cool in the warm weather and smart/modest.

H & M had some nice bits in their more tailored section as well as crop wide leg triousers, patterned blouses and loose shift dresses in the more trendy areas. Definitely worth a look, I was very impressed.
