Wedding guest dresses suitable for breastfeeding

I’m invited to a wedding in august, I’ll still be breastfeeding my baby (currently 3mo, will be 5mo at the wedding). All my breastfeeding stuff is casual, vest tops, stretchy jersey tops and dresses. I had a quick look on ASOS but all the dresses looked casual. Also lots of nursing clothing also doubles as maternity/pregnancy wear so, while comfortable, is quite shapeless after you’ve actually given birth and not exactly flattering. Any recommendations for where to look for a dress suitable for a summer wedding guest and breastfeeding- I’m not shy about bf and don’t mind doing it in front of people but at the same time I don’t want to have my entire boob out at someone’s wedding Grin I’m currently a size 14 but hoping to be more of a 12 by then! Thanks

Maybe a wrap dress? I have one from &other stories which has a hook and eye fastening at the top to make it less revealing (I think). When it's undone I could definitely breastfeed in it, as it's really low on me and I'm tall.

Otherwise, could you do a dressed up version of your tops and wear with an amazing skirt? Maybe a lacy cami top under a silk blouse?

Ooh I hadn’t thought about a cami and skirt

Massive link, sorry. But if you don't want to click, Google lilysilk sleeveless blouse. This could look nice I think with skirt and maybe a cami underneath if you need it, but you might not.

What about these from seraphine? But as you can see they have the problem I referred to in my OP- they’re nursing AND maternity so they “allow for your growing bump”- obviously very welcome when you are actually pregnant but not very flattering when you’re wanting to look nice in a well fitting dress rather than a shapeless one the accentuates your tummy! I don’t want people thinking I’m pregnant again Grin

Seraphine

Ribeebie · 05/06/2021 12:41

Seraphine is nice, a bit pricier than other shops but they have some great nursing wear including dressier stuff. They usually have some sale stuff on their website and often have up to 30% off, or always have 10% off if a new customer

There's a group on Facebook called "can I breast feed in it" they're fab for posting dresses that you can feed in.

I'd probably not go down the nursing dress route tbh, but that's because I'm not having any more babies! If you are thinking of having more, then it could be worn during another pregnancy and to an event with the next baby iyswim.

If you're not though, I'd be concerned they wouldn't be flattering on someone who isn't pregnant and also didn't have a lot of luck making proper nursing clothes work for me tbh. But maybe things have moved on since I had my last.

I’ve just bought a dress from Boden for the same purpose. They have quite a few button down options that you could dress up.
