I am just starting to get back to some exercise to tone up.
I'm keeping it simple though, bike rides & walking and such, with family / DH /friends.

I'm not sure what to wear? I'd say the most simple choice would be leggings and tunics, I don't own any though and they seem to be out by 5 years.
It's far too hot for jeans also, also am overweight right now so shorts are out.

Any advice please?

I love Lucy Locket Loves leggings. Not cheap but can usually get some in the sales for an ok price. Some of the patterns are quite bright but I tend to go for the less ‘loud’ designs. What I like about them though is the quality: really good fabric and feel lovely. I have lost quite a bit of weight recently but I was 4 stone overweight and even then they were incredibly flattering: suck you in in all the right places. They are also very hard wearing and the sporty version has a back pocket on the waistband which is perfect size for your phone and keys.

How about walking/hiking trousers and tops? I don’t personally fancy leggings

Browse sportpursuit.com for stuff

I needed something in the cooker months and bought some casual sort of joggers from M&S. They're thinner than joggers, straight leg. And far more flattering. I wore them again yesterday and they were surprisingly cool (and I was out walking)

Sainsburys also do similar but with the roll over waistband. Sort of yoga pants

Cooker?! No, cooler... 🙄

Thank you, will look at all of these websites.

I'm looking for nice semi stylish wear that would be suitable, rather than specifically sports wear.

Do you want sports leggings or more trackers type?

If you are having a big life overhaul then don’t spend too much money or you’ll be regretting it when you lose loads of weight and the clothes don’t fit anymore.

How about crop trousers? I have some like these ones which are really light and loose so something along those lines

@EssexLioness - what do you wear with those leggings please?

@PersonaNonGarter - I am probably looking for a mix of those.

I want to be able to ride the bike without catching my clothes in, is that a thing? DH says yes.

I just wear them with plainish t shirts. I only tend to wear them in the house or when walking the dog, but as I work from home this is quite a chunk of my time

PurpleDaisies · 05/06/2021 20:45

For cycling you either need fitted bottoms or cycle clips that will stop your trousers catching.

Sainsbury’s is great for cheap workout kit. I’ve got lots from there. M and S has some really nice things in their sportswear section. Don’t rule out shorts when it’s hot. Really, nobody will think twice about you wearing them.

PurpleDaisies · 05/06/2021 20:46

I forgot to mention decathlon. They’re really cheap but good quality.
