Stopping tretinoin in the summer?

Been on it for 4 months no issues but since the sun has been out my face is sore and I'm worried I'm damaging my skin.

I use SPF 50 2 - 4 of times a day if out in the sun, or once a day if inside. The SPF is making me spotty.

I use a cap and sunglasses but it still feels like I catch the sun. I'm not sitting in it, I garden, hike etc so just happen to spend time outside. Not sure what to do. Any advise?

I've been wondering the same. Started on tretinoin in January. I've read conflicting advice on the various Tretinoin FB groups I'm on. Recently I read that it doesn't make your skin any more sensitive to the sun so you may as well carry on.

I think I'm going to carry on as I am but if we do get to go on our holiday abroad (fat chance I know!) I will stop it for those 2 weeks.

Dermatica say keep using it, and I guess they'd know!

Wonder whether I need a mineral sunscreen for outside days. Anyone use one?

Keep using it, I do.
You’ll go through the whole skin getting used to it again when you restart.

I stop for beach holidays abroad but not during the uk summer. Guess I won’t be stopping anytime soon.

You can stop or you can use a mineral block & a sun hat.

I’ve just bought a floppy brim hat in Sainsburys for £10.

I tend to switch to a milder retinol but that's because I'm not good at reapplying sunscreen during the day.

Your skin is only more sensitive when you first start with Tretinoin. So, as long as you are careful with applying your SPF50- you’ll be fine.
Most people suffer less issues in the summer months, the harsh wind and drying nature of winter can sometimes make skin more sensitive!

I didn't get any sensitivity until now after I've been outside. I just feel like I've caught the sun but it doesn't look burnt. Just a bit sore. Maybe it's the extra sunscreen I'm putting on instead? I'm using LRP Anthelios factor 50.

Check your sunscreen ingredients. If it has alcohol towards the top of the list (which I think the watery LRP in the shaker bottle does) then your skin might be reacting to that.
