Thing is if you have to wad out on expensive accessories to bling it up - it will be a false economy - as you will likely be buying fancy accessories that you are less likely to wear again. But buy it for wearing elsewhere - it’s a classic dress.

Love the pink one you have just posted.

PresentingPercy · 03/06/2021 19:11

The pink one is so much better.

I do actually like the green one but just not for a church wedding and a hotel reception. Although a super hat from a company like Hostie hats would really lift it! But that costs more and you won’t get any wear out of it at all afterwards. Try a wide headband. Work well with long hair. Ganni ones are great.

dopeyduck · 03/06/2021 19:26

Yep it's too casual - sorry but being honest

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/06/2021 19:44

It really depends on the wedding. I agree that having to buy lots of accessories to 'lift' it would be a false economy though.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/06/2021 19:45

Having said that I think pink could be nice with it.

CHISistoast · 03/06/2021 19:54

I don't see a problem. Maybe a jaunty Alice band as they are à la mode? Say a jewelled one. And hot pink would look good with it.

CHISistoast · 03/06/2021 19:56

Like either of these...

Love the pink dress and out for the 2, would wear that for sure.

If you do go for the green one, could you get a more formal jacket to cover the upper arms? Something like this?

The thing is, that shape of dress could work for An Occasion - if it were either made of something like tweed, miles and miles of wool and silk all knitted together and announcing its presence; or in some diaphanous ruffle-y silk; draped with gold chain belts and innumerable strings of pearls. Lyocell does not give the same effect - it's just too everyday.

The pink dress does look more celebratory - but it would depend on how the fabric moves on a real person.

MayorGundersonsDogRufus · 03/06/2021 20:16

Unless it's at the Ritz, that dress is totally fine for a wedding.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/06/2021 20:19

A headband is a good idea. This one is cute

coffeerose · 03/06/2021 20:24

Wear the pink one blinged up. The green one is too safari.

pattyparsnip · 03/06/2021 20:27

Ah that headband is gorgeous think I may purchase and wear with the pink dress . I've tried the green one on again I'm going to keep it as although expensive I think it will last me years and I'll get my wear out of it . Thanks for the help Smile

Isn't lyocell the same thing as tencel? If it is, it creases horrendously.

NellietheNumpty · 03/06/2021 20:39

I have seen the headband in store it is so lovely. What a shame I don't have any place to go, can you take one for the team and wear it for us.

BigBirdsbird · 03/06/2021 21:36

Well, I like it. Great colour.
I'd wear with leopardprint shoes

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/06/2021 21:41

I like the green dress better than the pink dress. Agree that the fabric sounds as if it could crease badly though.

Jealous of anybody who the headband would suit. I'd look ridiculous in it!

BrilliantBetty · 03/06/2021 21:50

I like the green dress.

It feels almost vintage-y. I'd wear with bright red or orange lippy and some classic vintage heels with a patent clutch. Some jewellery etc.

It could be dressed up. Eyes should / will be on the bride anyway. It's not like this is in appropriate, even if on the more casual side.

TeamRick · 03/06/2021 22:13

I like the green dress too! And I don't think it's too casual for a wedding!

PresentingPercy · 03/06/2021 23:16

The headband from Oliver Bonas would be great but it’s quite flat. The more modern headbands are padded. They add height and glamour. With the pink dress I would also consider darker shoes to coordinate with a darker colour in the fabric.

Maybe OP isn't keen on those Boden types of dresses?

When I got married all I wanted was for my friends to be there & to have fun. Which bride has time to even check out whether their guests are in the right frock?!

Honestly OP I think it's a nice dress which you can use again & I think some people are being a bit ridiculous saying you need to spend a fortune on something else. Just get some nice accessories & shoes.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/06/2021 08:46

The more padded headbands can be quite difficult to pull off. Depends on one's head! 😁
