Peeling nails

Any tips on how to treat my peeling nails please?

It's only been happening for about three months. I have worn nail varnish constantly since the first lockdown, plus copious amounts of hand sanitiser, so I'm guessing it's a combination of the two.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks

Forgot to add that I assume all the hand washing isn't helping either.

CND Solar Oil. You can get it on Amazon. Really replaces the oils and has made my nails strong again.

I used to have peeling nails and then following worked for me, though it took a couple of months, at least, before seeing real improvement.

A cod liver oil supplement (Seven Seas maximum strength), gently file nail edges daily with a Tweezerman metal file, followed by the 'shine' side only on a nail buffer. I use Cerave cream (Baume hydrant) or Molton Brown hand cream overnight and handcream always after washing hands. I have a Chanel handcream for out and about but that hasn't contributed anything much at all, in my opinion.

I've ordered the cnd oil from Amazon and it's being delivered tomorrow. Really good reviews and inexpensive.

I started taking cod liver oil and a multi vit with iron a couple of weeks ago, hoping this may help.

I think I'm going to order the cnd oil, too! I've just been reading the reviews.

It really worked for me! And it smells lovely- almondy. I just brush it on as often as I remember and at a minimum every morning and night.

It's the hand sanitiser. My nails are usually strong and grow well. Now, not so much, and the free end flakes.
I'm still using gel polish but have resigned myself to the fact that I need to keep them short.

Secondchance21 · 02/06/2021 21:01

Hey, really not trying to scare you but my gel nails started lifting a few mts ago , the lady doing them kept telling me to get my bloods checked, anyway a few wks ago I had a major medical issue, might be just worth getting a blood test if it has only started happening lately. (It was wrong but I was getting them done during lockdown it was a friend who was going them for me) 99.9% chance there is nothing.

The thing that's made the biggest difference to my peeling nails (after years of struggling with them) is a Lenny Deighton glass nail file. I keep my nails short and it's pretty much eradicated the peeling.

Trixsie · 02/06/2021 21:26

@BeBraveAndBeKind I have heard good things about the Lenny Deighton files. I have had a Champneys glass nail file for a few years and it's been great until recently so I'm in the market for a new file.

@Trixsie how are you finding the solar oil?

Blossomtoes · 07/06/2021 20:38

This is what you need. It’s amazing.
