Mid Life Rut

Hi
I'm 47 size 12 stuck in a clothes rut. I work from home and even when in the office we all dress casually. I live in jeans or cargo trousers and t shirts. I dislike summer skirts and shorts as I have the whitest pastiest legs no matter what type of tan. I'm long in the body and have boobs so round necks make me look huge. What do other people wear? Sick of looking scruffy and dumpy!

Just embrace the white legs (with sun screen) and switch out your jeans for a midi skirt with a tee? I spent years hiding my legs in summer because I need to shave a gazillion times a day for them to be smooth (no medical issues, just a very hairy person) but now realise no-one gives a shit if I have slightly stubbly calves. I now have a summer wardrobe of lovely swishy skirts and dresses.

I’m not busty so round necks are good on me, but v or scoop necks would look nice, or what about button through shirt dresses? Maybe a cami/vest top, even with a shirt over, depending on how you feel about your arms?

Square necks are flattering and maxi or midi dresses are perfect for covering legs! The current trend is maxi dresses with white trainers or slide in sandals, very comfortable and accommodates any age/ size

Find midlife bloggers/Instagram people for inspiration- there are loads, all sorts of sizes and shapes so you might need to look at a few to find someone who chimes with you. Midlifechic.com might be a good start - she has a long body and has done a few posts recently about work from home wear
