Why does Derma blading leave me with spots??

I do it myself and mainly around my mouth/chin. I use Hollywood browzer blades and do it maybe twice a week as the hair grows so quick. Any tips please?? They are little spots not the usual bigger spots?

I have the same issue but I thinks it's just irritation - shaving rash basically.

I slap on the moisturiser and keep reapplying some sudocrem (when I'm in the house, obvs can't really walk around like that!) I put a good layer on before bed and it's usually much better in the morning.

It’s fine straight after? It’s the next day or so they pop up and it’s not good! I used oil before and that wasn’t great so I’m currently doing it dry which may not be great either....

are you shaving areas that could not be reached with normal razors? As the bearded lady I shave every morning with a gilette equivalent and do not get this? maybe change your angle slightly??

Grizalda · 02/06/2021 17:03

I do mine dry because I feel it doesn't work if I do it wet, not half as much fuzz comes off.

I make sure I moisturise immediately after I've finished and keep topping it up if I feel like it's gone dry again.

Also, do you reuse your blades? Are you possibly using a dull blade as that will cause extra friction and more irritation.

Coukd be ingrown hair, in which case you need to exfoliate more often. Or it could be that the blades are leaving small cuts which can sometimes become inflamed or infected.

Angle is everything, it takes some getting used to.

Loserinlove · 02/06/2021 17:11

I have been doing it for quite a while.. any tips on angle??

I used to get this with the open blade type but now use an electric rotator facial shaver. I always cleanse my face before and after use and spray the shaver head with alcohol. Then I put lactic acid on afterwards - no more bumps or spots.

Loserinlove · 06/06/2021 07:31

@JMAngel1 what is an electric rotator shaver? The sort old men tend to use? What lactic acid product do you use?

I cleansed my face thoroughly Friday, no make up on, watched another tutorial to check direction etc... then covered my face in la Roche repairing balm and yesterday still had a spot appear right by my lip Sad

It sounds as though this treatment doesn't suit your skin? Is it giving you any benefits?
If it's for hair removal, maybe try a different method, eg cream.

Kjr33 · 06/06/2021 12:33

It could just be purge from exfoliation? Do you use any other exfoliation methods? Maybe if you do you are just overdoing it a bit.

Loserinlove · 06/06/2021 12:44

I exfoliate twice a week? I only do this to get rid of peach fuzz and my moustache not for any exfoliating reasons?

It will manually exfoliate as you do it though. Definitely try to avoid exfoliation and dermaplaning on the same day and try to space each out as much as you can.

Also another thought occurred are you changing the blades often enough or cleaning them thoroughly enough, these blades are pretty specialist to their job and will blunt quickly and cause more drag than they should. Many are one use items, I dermaplane but only once or twice a month I tweeze any bigger hairs in between its personal to what you feel you need though.

Loserinlove · 06/06/2021 13:53

If I tweeze them they also make small spots which h is why I started derma planing Sad
