Short curvy women - show me your summer wardrobe!

Despite all my best intentions (but not best effort!) I am still overweight this summer. I used to be a petite size 8 and and am now a 14 most places - possibly 16 in less generous fitting shops! I'm 5ft 2, hourglass but carry weight on my tummy and bum - I look a lot slimmer face on than side on if that makes sense!! Boobs are 32F. I'm mid 40s but I don't think I look it and other than being knackered I don't feel old!

So if you're short & curvy what are you wearing this summer? I feel like my wardrobe is boring - lots of plain tshirts/tops and jeans/linen jogger type trousers. Although I love them in theory, I often feel self conscious and v.fat in dresses or jumpsuits. Help!

First of all you need to get out of the mindset of wearing clothes that hide your shape/size and into clothes that flatter it. So you need to think about clothes that accentuate your best bits, whether that’s boobs, waist, eyes (so think colours too)

Jumpsuits are flattering for short and curvy as long as you get the right cut. I would go for low cut (sweetheart, plunge, Bardot) and sinched in at the waist. Also culotte length rather than full length. Think about colours that flatter your hair, eyes, skin etc.

Dresses I’d go for a midaxi length and again think about neckline and what’s going on at the waist.

Finally, some makeup and doing your hair is always a good about - as is some fake tan!

Also wear shaping underwear under lightweight jumpsuits and dresses. Makes a world of difference

Thanks @Holly60 - I always feel like cinching in at the waist gives me bulges above and below the cinch, which I don't like! I think it's because of how I carry weight - I don't get wider I get deeper Grin Blush

I'm exactly the same shape as you but a bit older. Jumpsuits are difficult to wear as are most maxi dresses. I love dresses if I can find them I like strappy empire line dresses. I bought a lovely one in HandM this weekend, I'll try find it.

@Holly60

You said it all! Great advice.

I am a little shorter, a size bigger and a tad older, my summer uniform is linen trousers rolled up a plain tank (usually black but I do sometimes venture into khaki) and a wafty kaftan mainly one hundred stars ones or an oversized linen top, but I have hideous arms so they must covered at all times.

Just to add if you shop with shein search swimwear and then summer dresses. You do need to size up though,.
