Anti-ageing creams that work?!

I want to upgrade my serums and moisturisers but not sure what to buy. Elemis pro collagen gets good reviews but it’s pricey. Has anyone actually seen a visible improvement with the creams they use?

I’m a huge skincare freak with a ginormous collection of serums, creams etc. I’ll be totally honest and tell you I don’t think anything will provide miraculous results. You can however definitely improve the appearance of the skin. My suggestion would be to work out what your skin issues are and your skin type first. Are you trying to improve wrinkles, texture, pores, dryness? Once you know that, you can look at products that have the specific active ingredient to treat it according to your skin type. Generally speaking though, a serum will work better than a cream, as the particles are smaller so they penetrate deeper into the epidermis. So spend your money on serums and save on moisturisers!

prescription tretinoin

Vit C serum in the morning
An acid toner (glycolic if you're dry/ageing)
Retinol/tret in the evenings.

Unless your cream contains those, they won't do anything other than moisturize.

I think skin health comes from within mostly. Healthy living, lots of water and good genes. I am currently looking into buying one of those micro current device. Think it might be cheaper long term than splashing cash on endless serums and creams.

Tretinoin and sunscreen are the biggies.

A Vitamin C serum is good for glow.

@Zigzag77
I’ve got very normal skin, not dry, not sensitive, pores are fine. It’s really just the fine lines starting to get more noticeable that I want to target.

For fine lines the gold standard is prescription tretinoin. You can get it from online companies like Dermatica or Skin and Me. But worth building up to it as it’s very strong stuff so retinol-based serums could be a good starting point. I like Medik8. If you don’t already, a chemical exfoliant eg glycolic acid once or twice a week is also good for fine lines and overall texture. Sunday Riley good genes is good but a little pricey. Also vitamin C in the morning (Medik8 again does a few excellent ones) and sunscreen of course, and you’re either Smile

That should read ‘sorted’ at the end - silly autocorrect!

Chanel Sublimage texture supreme.

Unbelievably good.

The only things proven to be anti ageing are prescription retinol (Tret) and SPF.

Diggingaholeformyself · 30/05/2021 19:49

Prescription tretinoin.
Factor 50 spf.
Hyaluronic acid to combat dehydration.
Vitamin c.

I LOVE skincare and Ive been collecting skincare items since a long long time now. I haven't found any single product that will transform your skin or blur all the wrinkles. What Ive found though is, that products work when you're diligent about using them. The best skincare routine is one with a good moisturizer, cleanser and retinol. Fancy masks are just marketing. Apart from this, you can use collagen supplements for improving the texture of your skin. I love the ones by www.vitaminexpress.org/uk/. Other good brands to look for are Paula's Choice, Cerave and Aveeno. Hope this helped.
