Expensive moisturiser but skin still feels tight

So I treated myself to a Clarins moisturiser based on mid 40’s skin but my skin doesn’t feel very moisturised at all, in fact it feels a little tight. It’s the multi active jour and was recommended to me by a friend.
I thought the pot was quite small for the price but the leaflet says you only need to use a small amount and pat it in. I feel as though I want to slather loads on as a small amount isn’t making my skin feel moisturised. Bit gutted as was expensive and meant to be a rare treat for me.

Any suggestions please - should I just use more?

Hyaluronic acid holds many times its weight in water so is great for dehydrated skin (skin lacking water) - you could try a serum as suggested. If your skin is dry (lacking in oil) then perhaps try mixing it with a few drops of facial oil.

Clinique dramatically different moisturiser is the only moisturiser I’ve ever found that leaves my skin feeling properly moisturised, others just don’t seem to have enough fat content for me.
I use a hydrating serum first.

Nivea blue pot

I watched a documentary about skin creams. They compared loads of brands. They tried to make it as properly scientific as possible. Everytime the nivea beat all other creams - even the most expensive. The experts reckoned it was the very high fat content - which also makes it unpleasant for some to use.

@FedUpAtHomeTroels second vote for Aldi Q10 - I use the night as day cream. I also use either tropic elixir or balm balm rose. All great stuff. Plus lots of water (when I remember)

I have had this and nivea and honestly nivea is better

I also use ponds cleanser and think that is good as well. I agree with the comments about stripping your skin with cleansers (and have had that with various foaming or gel based expensive cleansers in the past)

It's obviously not right for your skin. I've got the clarins night time moisturiser that I use during the day but it's £75 which is ridiculous. I bought a pot of nivea night time moisturiser for dry skin and it's great. It was £2.65

Look at what your washing your face with. My skin is really sensitive and I cannot use a lot of skin care brand cleansers because they make my skin red and blotchy, and dry my skin out.

I have quite oily skin, so have the opposite problem. I hate moisturisers that leave my skin greasy and take ages to soak in. IME, Nivea moisturisers are all like this. So maybe look at something from them. Also look at night creams, they tend to be richer than day creams.

I have bought so many expensive skin creams and my skin looks and feels best with Aldi Lacura or Superdrug Naturally Radiant. I remove makeup with miscellar water and wash my face in plain water now, cleansers don't agree with my skin (dry, I'm mid 40s). Occasionally I'll use this to get rid of dead skin (be sure to use sunscreen for the week after) www.superdrug.com/Skin/Face-Skin-Care/Face-Masks/Peel-Off-Face-Masks/Superdrug-Naturally-Radiant-Glycolic-Overnight-Peel-30ml/p/953857

I also love natural oils to moisturize my skin and although they’re expensive, a little goes a long way. Rosehip oil, jojoba oil and almond oil are all available at shops like Holland & Barrett and great for skin.
