Walking boots help

I'm in desperate need for walking boots. I've had 3 pairs since December and have returned them due to splitting. These were lightweight, sort of plastic coated but split where the boot creases. One pair was Merrell and the other Sprayway. I'm looking for something fairly light weight and waterproof. In an ideal world I'd like a traditional hiking boot that is lightweight and waterproof with a good grip. Does such a thing exist? Please help - I'm sending myself crazy with the constant looking 🤪

Perhaps Hoka One One Challenger boot will fit your needs? Lightweight, comfortable, waterproof and grippy.

Otherwise I would give the Adidas Terrex line a look, they’re doing some fantastic walking/hiking boots these days.

I got Adidas Terrex not long after I made the expensive purchase mistake of Merrill MOAB. I can highly recommend the Adidas, nice and lightweight and waterproof

Thanks for the replies. I absolutely love the look of the Hoka just wondered if they're a bit bulky? Also I I've been reluctant to go with the Adidas ones thinking they might let me down like me last two pairs. Basically I think I'm after something that doesn't exist! Thanks again

I'm wearing Altberg Defenders army surplus. They are superb. Not too heavy. Easy to clean. Very supportive but not restrictive around the ankle. The women's have a wide toe box and smaller heel to the men's. Altberg are a British company and are known for their great walking boots.
I'm a 7 with wide toe area so bought the LG.
They had a low abrasion scrape on the toe, that was it, they looked brand new.

I would definitely recommend Scarpa boots.

I don’t find the Hokas bulkier than other walking/hiking boots that I have had and combined with how lightweight they are, they don’t feel clumsy at all!

I second Scarpa boots, they last years and are comfortable from the outset. They've never let me down with grip or letting in water. My husband always buys cheaper mountain warehouse boots and mine easily last about three times as long as his, it's false economy to buy cheap walking boots (unless you hit on lucky in the sales of course Smile)

Love these ON Cloudrocks lightweight, comfortable and waterproof

Divineswirls · 01/06/2021 22:44

Mine are Karrimor which I bought from Millets years ago no sign of splitting

OhHarry · 02/06/2021 00:43

Another Scarpa fan here.

Ariats. I bloody love Ariat boots. They may not be as light as you want but I find them so comfortable and they last forever.

I have scarpa gtx leather boots and I've been delighted with them. They are lightweight, supportive, waterproof and I've never had a blister since day one!

Sorry, not gtx! Getting mixed up with some past boots.

I’ve got the north face hedgehog. Bloody great 4 years later
