Revlon one step? Please tell me what you think to it

I've been thinking of getting a hot brush but am worried it might be too damaging. I have thin, fairly fragile hair which I wash two or three times a week and blow dry. It's in a collarbone length blunt bob. If you have the one step does it pull out much hair and how cool is the lowest setting? Not sure how it compares with babyliss big hair or flawless volume in terms of how damaging it might be. Reviews are so mixed . TIA

I like mine although my hair is too short for it now, I have fine fragile hair and I prefer the Revlon over the Babylis big hair and the Dyson air wrap round brush.

It gets pretty hot on the hot setting but as it's very efficient at drying I found it didn't really do much damage as it dried my hair so quickly, I found the rotating babylis pulled far more hair out than the Revlon.

Thanks GrayHare. I suspected the rotating Babyliss might catch and rip out hair. There’s no way I could afford the Airwrap so it’s good to know you prefer the Revlon to it. They’ve brought out a smaller size of the one-step. I think the brush is 20% smaller than the original. Reviews say it’s still on the big side for shorter hair though.

I have the one step and fine hair and love it. It doesn’t pull my hair (or any more hair out) and dries my hair quickly and with a smooth finish.
The brush does look big but the large brush also means you get that volume. My hair is only just longer than yours and I find the size of the brush is great for my hair and it adds movement in the mid lengths of hair as well as roots and ends. Saying that perhaps the smaller brush size also does this but I wouldn’t know! Smile

Thanks Beach. I think I’m going to go for it. It doesn’t sound like it’s going to cause more damage than my normal brush and hairdryer which even on its lowest setting is really hot.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I am usually really bad at doing my hair. Absolutely struggle, especially at the back. I have no technique at all! Do people think I would get on ok with the Revlon or would my lack of technique mean that I would struggle with this too?

NavigatingAdolescence · 25/05/2021 14:31

I have the Remington version. Absolutely love it. I just can’t deal with round brushes and dryer and this does it all for me. Don’t even need a mirror.

I think you’ll be fine with it. I love mine. All you have to do is brush your hair in sections. The bit that gets hot is ceramic so as long as you don’t use it every day and put heat protection spray on your hair there shouldn’t be any damage.

Basecamporbust · 25/05/2021 17:27

Right I’m going for it. Thanks everyone

Exciting!

@ShroomShroom

All you need to do is take sections of your hair and draw the brush through. It helps if you focus on one small section, starting at the back and clip the rest of your hair up.

When the first section is dry, clip that to one side, take another section of damp hair and repeat.

A couple of tips. It helps to blast your hair with a hairdryer before using the One Step to remove some of the moisture and it’s important to really get into the roots of your hair with it if you want volume.

Basecamporbust · 26/05/2021 08:59

lookingoutside. That’s good to know. I ordered the one for short to medium hair hoping the smaller brush will get near the roots easier.

Op, do you have a good heat protector for your hair ?

Basecamporbust · 27/05/2021 18:55

AnyFucker. I am going to get one. I use a styling product the says it has a protector in but think I need a really effective one to use with the Revlon brush because my hair is so thin and fragile

Good plan

Basecamporbust · 28/05/2021 13:25

I’ve just dried my hair with the one-step for the first time. I love it. I got the one for short to medium hair. Gave it a blast with a hairdryer then styled it copying YouTube videos. It’s so easy and quick. I’m a bit crack-handed but found it pretty easy to use. First impressions are really good. Definitely there’s more body and it looks shinier and smarter.

Lots of reviews say it gets screamingly hot. What did you think ?

I am thinking of getting one but I am growing my hair and what used to be my fringe long layers has some slight damage on the ends and some the last of some bleach from old highlights.

I have suffered hair loss since COVID/stress so don’t want to risk it too much

NavigatingAdolescence · 28/05/2021 16:07

I have good hair and lots of it and never go above medium heat. I think that’s why I went for the Remington over the Revlon - more power meant less heat needed.

AnyFucker · 28/05/2021 16:11

Can you link the Remington one please

I love love love my revlon one step. Swishy blow dried hair.
Bought the Babylis when my haircut was too short but the rotating brush made my hair a bit greasy.

Basecamporbust · 28/05/2021 17:36

AnyFucker. I used it on the cool setting which was much less hot than my hairdryer. There are 3 settings - cool, I and II. It took less than 10 mins to dry.
