Bikini that covers stomach

goingtosaygoodbye · 24/05/2021 21:19

I know the answer is 'a swimsuit', BUT I'm thinking of exploring other avenues Hmm
After 2 kids the middle of my stomach looks pretty bad (stretched out skin that never really bounced back Confused) but about a cm above belly button it's fine, so I have bought this bikini and it does the job of covering the mess, but now I'm thinking does it just look exactly like I'm trying to hide my tummy? Obviously on the model it looks greatEnvy
Any thoughts on this:

I'm not a fan of the one you've linked.

Next do a very flattering roll top bikini which can be worn high waisted or rolled down if you choose - www.next.co.uk/g27535s6/215432#215432

TeamRick · 24/05/2021 22:03

I think with a bikini your eyes are drawn to the fabric so sometimes a smaller bikini actually makes you look smaller.
Although I get if you feel uncomfortable showing your stomach that won't help!

StarlightLady · 25/05/2021 03:47

OP, I don’t think the plain fabric works. I prefer the Next one suggested by a PP, as it is briefer on the sides and on the bum. I understand you wanting something high rise, but the wide sides with the plain fabric doesn’t work for me. Maybe something with a Brazilian cut?

BusterGonad · 25/05/2021 06:21

Pour Moi do rolled down bottoms in all colours and patterns. You can often get them cheaper on ebay too. They are more flattering than high waisted and the rolled down bit takes the attention away from a huge area of plain fabric. I don't think the first pair even look great on the slim toned model!

HomeSliceKnowsBest · 25/05/2021 06:42

Your stomach is not a mess OP Flowers.
Can you order a few and try them on? Literally nobody will think 'ooh bet she's hiding her tummy under those bikini bottoms'.

JemimaTiggywinkle · 25/05/2021 06:50

I like the ones you’ve ordered. Think it all depends on how they look like on you.

Agree with pp Literally nobody will think 'ooh bet she's hiding her tummy under those bikini bottoms'
After all, we are all hiding bits of our bodies, that is the very reason for wearing clothes!

LizziesTwin · 25/05/2021 06:59

I think the very high waisted bikini bottoms only work if you have a very long torso or there isn’t enough gap. Just find a bikini bottom you like and let your skin show. Almost no one of any age has a flawless body and the chances are they won’t all be on the same beach as you.

Moules · 25/05/2021 07:04

I am ordering these @rhombuspocahontas ! Thanks for sharing! MN is a goldmine for these recommendations. Pre baby I loved a bikini with tied sides on the bottoms as I was a slim apple shape so needed them to balance my figure out. Now I’m a less slim apple shape Grin with stretch marks across my whole stomach and a slightly sagging belly (oh the joys of motherhood). I honestly didn’t think I’d ever wear a bikini again and had just come to terms with this, but these bottoms look like a great solution and seem to be very flattering on the curvier models.

BusterGonad · 25/05/2021 07:25

And I agree, no one will be looking at you, most women, big, small, tall or short will be looking at you, they'll all be worrying about what they look like (if they're anything like me anyway).

Sickoffamilydrama · 25/05/2021 07:48

I've had one of these in the past and it looked amazing but I'm an hour glass & was slimmer at the time.
It looked awful on my sister who is more rectangle/ athletic.

bonfireheart · 25/05/2021 07:49

The ones you've linked to are fine.

I really don't think anyone judges and if they do it's their problem. I'm a size 8/10 and perfectly happy with my body but always wear a swimming dress because I am constantly cold no matter how hot it is. Wear what is comfortable for you. Most people look stupid in swimwear.

yikesanotherbooboo · 25/05/2021 08:13

People will be looking at themselves and their families. They won't be interested in you apart from in the most fleeting way. Wear a costume because you like it or like yourself in it.

WaterfallsAtDusk · 25/05/2021 08:59

Agree that roll top bikini bottoms are fantastic, so flattering. I never normally wear bikinis but bought this style and feel surprisingly confident in it! Enjoy wearing your bikini, you'll look great.

I have several pairs of these and you can buy bikini or tankini top . They are great quality .
NewMatress · 25/05/2021 09:20

I like board shorts and a bikini top. As in small chested and bug hipped, it means I can have a "young" more skimpy top but still de en coverage on the bottom half. I do think big knickers draw attention and look frumpy, but in prepared to accept this may be only to my old fashioned eyes.

I don't like the bikini in your example. That top can't be flattering on anyone?

goingtosaygoodbye · 25/05/2021 10:59

Thanks for all the answers!!
I have got them now and will see if I'm brave enough to post a pic. (Can you remove a photo afterwards or doeit stay here forever Blush?)
I don't really like the next one's pattern,
Like the shorts, but they're not high waist.

Unfortunately I don't have the confidence to just wear whatever and let it all be 'out there'. I haven't bought new swimwear for ages because it's just too depressing and haven't had that much need for it 'up north' but this year I'm feeling like it's time to find something i can feel good wearing.

Yes! 'frumpy' is exactly what i was hoping not to look like!! And worried that's what it will look like Hmm

Here are the Pour Moi bottoms:

Anything you like the look of?

Curatingchaos · 25/05/2021 11:18

Roll down all the way. Tesco usually do brilliant ones too. Nice plain black ones are fab
Very comfy.

ProbablyBeingDaft · 25/05/2021 11:20

I got a roll top bikini from Asda last year and it's amazing. So comfortable and flattering and just rolls to whatever height you feel comfortable with. The model has it as a high waist but the striped section can roll or fold. It's also a really busy pattern so that's what catches your eye. I think it's nicer in person than the photo tbh.

I have this one and looking at them again is tempting me to buy some more ! It gives you confidence to walk about at the pool but then folds down for sunbathing . Loving a hot pink there but all I see is rain this year 😂🙄
BusterGonad · 25/05/2021 13:02

Op I'm a size 14 to 16 and I have a well rounded tummy with a roll above too, I'm not confident in a bikini but I don't want to wear a swim suit either, the Pour Moi ones are what I've found to be the best. You can wear them high, low or in between. I've got a red pair and a floral pair with both the tops to match so I can mix and match. I'm very pleased with them. £££ but worth it.
