Just that really! I’m a huge fan of both shops get all my cleaning products from there, just wondering which products people swear by

OP posts:

Preferred HB till I saw a B and M with furniture

For weekly bargains though it’s HB.
Their chilli in a jar is brilliant for cooking and it’s 79p ish

kirkandpetal · 26/05/2021 07:38

@Livpool

HB sell Eos lip balms, which I love

Me too. Usually £7/£8 but about £1.50 in HB. I may have accumulated quite a few Blush and they make good sticking fillers for my 2 girls.

30not13 · 26/05/2021 08:21

The 99p exfoliating foot things (footner essentially) in HB.
Might need to use another after a week if you're a first time user or have really bad feet but oh my they are amazing!

Usually get my box hair colour there too as a little cheaper.
Will needto look out for the real techniques brushes

purdypuma · 27/05/2021 23:56

My sister works at Home Bargains so I frequently get updated on new stock I might just fancy buying!Grin

I get the root perfect spray for 2 quid & cheap hair colours to do my roots, Wilkinson sensitive razors, hair brushes & big bottles of pantene.

Got a real techniques foundation brush for 2 quid last week & have recently bought some physicians formula make up items which were 1.50 each...surprisingly decent!

Tend to also get most of my household cleaning stuff from there & bumper packs of classic cat food...I'd be gutted if they shut!Smile

Is Quality Save an off shoot of HB?

MournfulTromboneNoise · 28/05/2021 12:47

They do a salicylic acid range which is fantastic for the price. The serum is £2.99 and it's 2%

Rummikub · 28/05/2021 16:26

I think so. The logo colours are the same.. Check the own brand label. If it’s TJ Morris it’s home and Bargain.

@iGetPipAndWork

The 29p flapjack
Yes! Except the last couple of visits there they didn't have my favourite, the one with white chocolate on top so I don't know if they've stopped selling them for good, hope not.
Seesawmummadaw · 29/05/2021 05:58

I don’t understand the fascination!

Lexilooo · 29/05/2021 08:25

I love the XHC shampoo, conditioner and serum.

Fab stuff, and only £1 better than all the more expensive brands, even cleared up my sister's psoriasis on her scalp!

DobbleDobble · 29/05/2021 08:26

Is that you Mrs HinchGrin

Heartbeats0708 · 29/05/2021 08:28

The Olivia Hale make up range in Home Bargains is excellent. I decided to risk it first with a primer which turned out to be exactly like my beloved GOSH one that was discontinued.
Since I've had a foundation stick, mascara, eye pallette, concealer and several brushes. The only duff was a loose powder that was more white than translucent and I wasn't a fan. The keratin pouches of hair mask are also lovely.

wizzler · 29/05/2021 08:34

Dime bars ... and Milka dime bars in HB

Onlinedilema · 29/05/2021 08:42

Yes to the flapjacks.
I also buy garden pots from both B&M and Homebargains.
I've had seeds from Homebargains and they are great.
Outdoor lights too.
Gifts sets such as Lynx at Christmas.

Overdon · 29/05/2021 16:00

HB do massive jars of coconut oil far cheaper than elsewhere.
Find medicines/ supplements excellent value there too.
Tree/ lavender/ peppermint oil also v cheap.
Got some surprisingly good DVDs there too!

KidneyBeans · 30/05/2021 07:32

I totally understand why some posters are concerned about the S&B Board..,

Rummikub · 30/05/2021 09:55

@KidneyBeans

I totally understand why some posters are concerned about the S&B Board..,
What does this mean
vjg13 · 30/05/2021 11:37

That the tone is lowered?! Wink

Rummikub · 30/05/2021 12:00

Oh ok
I haven’t ever posted in style and beauty. Can’t afford ££££. Hi&B is my level just about.
Maybe there needs to be an exclusive S&B so the tone doesn’t get lowered ..

ViciousJackdaw · 30/05/2021 13:00

Such snobbery! The joke's on you if you're paying more than you need to.

KidneyBeans · 30/05/2021 13:06

@Rummikub

It means that the style and Beauty board is about style and beauty - makeup, cosmetics, fashion.

I'm not aware either of those stores even sell clothes.
There are separate boards for home decor and general shopping - including a housekeeping thread for cleaning products.

@ViciousJackdaw why is it snobby to point out that cleaning products are nothing to do with S&B?

KidneyBeans · 30/05/2021 13:10

My comment was a tongue in cheek reference to this thread (which I don't agree with btw.

What happened to S&B? http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/styleandd_beauty/4245826-what-happened-to-s-b

But cleaning products and general household stuff is tenuous even by my style 'standards'

Rummikub · 30/05/2021 13:11

@KidneyBeans

But they do sell beauty products

Rummikub · 30/05/2021 13:12

“KidneyBeans

Ok fair enough

KidneyBeans · 30/05/2021 13:32

[quote Rummikub]@KidneyBeans

They do and I apologise if I caused any offence. It was simply a tongue in cheek reference to the thread I linked and comment on cleaning products not being especially S&B

But I can see that in addition to star drops and coffee pods, plenty of posters buy makeup etc there (I actually often buy shampoo/conditioner but always think of that as a more 'basic' item I guess)
I've only bought makeup in BandM once (BB cream) and had to bin it so I'm probably not best placed to comment
