Hi all, I'd really appreciate some help with this please.
So today I was prescribed lymecycline and differin gel by my GP to try and combat acne.
I'm ashamed to admit but I've never really been an spf user unless its already in my makeup or moisturizer. 😬
I tried the La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra-Light Invisible Fluid SPF50 (yes I copied that full name..) a while back but it burned my skin and I didnt really like it so I stopped using it and eventually threw it away.
Now I'm on the antibiotics and differin I really need to be using a decent sunscreen but there's so many to choose from, I'm not sure what's best and I really don't want another stinging one.
I know I need a body sunscreen too due to the antibiotics but I'm not fussy with that and will just grab a bottle next time I'm in boots, it's the facial one I'm struggling with.
Any suggestions?
Thanks Smile

Biore watery essence or watery gel is my choice, have heard lots of good things about supergoop too it’s probably next on my list

I’ve used Ultrasun mineral for the face, I read chemical blocks lose effectiveness quickly.

I just use superdrug on my body though as it’s not tested on animals and has 5 star uva protection.

Ok thank you both very much I'll have a look at those.
I think the one I used to use (that one time..) was a chemical one so maybe that's why it stung a little? Hmm I'll go and have a look at the difference between chemical and mineral now and see which would be more suited.

I really like Eve Taylor products. They are very mild and the C+Bright spf 30 is my go to winter moisturiser. In the summer I use the SPF 50 moisturiser. Both have good staying power. But apply liberally

I find chemical sunscreens break me out and are terrible for sensitive skin! Estée Lauder, Clinique and Darphin all have fragrance free, oil free, 100% mineral sunscreens for sensitive skin. My skin is like yours and I found all of them to be really good. The Clinique one is a little harder to blend, but try it anyway it might be that I wasn’t pairing it with the right moisturiser.

I had the Same experience with La Roche Posay. Honestly, the most overrated, awful brand. They have so much fragrance and alcohol in everything and for a brand that caters to sensitive skin, not sure how they don’t offer mineral sunscreens.

I’d suggest Avene sunscreen - I find them gentle and they don’t break my skin out. They are designed fir sensitive skin.

AwkwardSquad · 20/05/2021 21:14

The one I use is a mineral sunscreen

Well I had a look at what I thought might be suitable then went to find out what dr drey YouTube had to say about it (I was going to go for the chemical biore one) she did a comparison on that and a neutrogena one. Both got a thumbs down due to having fragrance in them, but she said the biore was the better of the two.
Then she went on to talk about a sunscreen that she used and strongly recommended called Hada Lab Dark Gokujun All-in-one UV White Gel which is a Japanese brand, read some reviews and it sounds really good, is more of an all in one from what I can gather but apparently has amazing spfs.. if it's good enough for dr drey it's good enough for me! (Hopefully.. I still have to try it out Grin)

Heliocare 360 oil free is the best in my opinion. Recommended by my skincare specialist and is apparently good for acne prone skin. I rarely get break outs since using it.
