I am on a major money saving drive at the moment and need to get some new skin care, make up etc and would love some brilliant products for under £10. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks

Max Factor 2000 calorie mascara is under a tenner.

Burst Bees lip balm red dahlia is a dupe for Clinique black honey.

Rimmel Maxi Blush in Third Base is as good as Nars and not as irritatingly sparkly on the skin.

Barry M Molten Metal nail colours are great value and as good as YSL ones.

Witch hazel makes a great toner depending on your skin type. You can buy it with tea tree oil or without.

Rimmel also do a brow crayon/pencil which is similar to ABH brow wiz and half the cost.

I've tried all sorts of expensive moisturisers but I've never found anything as effective as good old Aveeno. It's my go-to now.

Also, Vitapointe is as good as any hair serum I've found anywhere.

@Geamhradh

Interesting what you say about The Inkey List. I’ve been looking at their products and have no idea if they are any good. They seem so cheap compared to higher end products. I don’t know how to tell if a product has enough of an active ingredient to make it work.

SocksAndTheCity · 29/05/2021 09:45

Superdrug Vit E again

Revolution Night Restore and rosehip oils (there are others but these are the ones I've used); they're £10 each and on 3 for 2 on their site atm Smile

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 30/05/2021 23:23

Sainsbury's own miscellar water, £2 for a massive bottle and nearly as good as garnier.

Garnier BB cream. Smells lovely too.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 30/05/2021 23:24

Aldi Q10 hand cream. About £1.50 and the best I've used.

SpeckledyHen · 31/05/2021 07:30

Nivea Soft
Superdrug Vit E Hot Cloth cleanser
Superdrug sensitive roll-on deodorant
M&S Balance Apothecary hand cream

Some excellent suggestions onhere. Mine are:

Tresemme Keratin Smooth heat protect spray

Herbal Essences Ignite my Colour shampoo and conditioner, also their coconut range and argon oil range are good.

Nivea soft cream - great if travelling, especially just a weekend stay, and you want to avoid taking separate face/body cream

Boots cucumber moisturiser is great as a foot cream. Cheap as chips and using a pumice stone in the shower every day followed by this has sorted out my cracked and dry heels.

NeedWineNow · 31/05/2021 08:06

Just thought of another - Garnier 7 Day body cream with Aloe Vera (I see someone had already recommended the Shea butter one). Huge bottle for under a fiver.

Mycatismadeofstringcheese · 31/05/2021 08:23

Child’s farm unscented moisturiser is lovely as a body lotion and only £3 in boots. It’s got shea butter in it and is great for dry and sensitive skin.

I bought it as a cheap ingredient when DD was into making slime. Kept it for myself!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 31/05/2021 09:02

The Collection primer. I use either the apricot or rosy one instead of foundation in the summer. It’s about 3 quid.

Vicliz24 · 31/05/2021 09:13

Collection felt tip eyeliner. It's about £3 and better than anything I've ever used .

MorrisZapp · 31/05/2021 09:17

I'm no fan of Cerave. There, I've said it.

The cleanser is weird and feels like washing your face with hair conditioner.

The moisturiser is supremely joyless.

My current fave face wash is the Aldi refreshing one, it's an 85p dupe of a £3.50 product from Simple :)

And is indeed light and refreshing, but makes you feel like you've actually washed your face.

LizzieMacQueen · 31/05/2021 09:54

Ebay. I've just been looking and there are sellers selling high end ? stuff at bargain prices.

tappitytaptap · 31/05/2021 11:08

Aldi Lacura or Superdrug Vitamin E hot cloth cleansers just as good as Liz Earle IMO. The Ordinary mineral UV filters facial sunscreen. Garnier Micellar Water. Rimmel Hide The Blemish concealer.

IlonaRN · 31/05/2021 11:21

@Serpenta

Weleda Skin Food Light (great for dry angry skin. hate the smell though)

NYX Professional Makeup Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil (if you don't need a whole lot of coverage this gives a 'perfect skin' effect)

Natural Collection blush in Pink Cloud (great powder blush for £2)

I second the Natural Collection blush in Pink Cloud!
Branleuse · 31/05/2021 11:28

I dont know about cult, but i think with makeup and skincare its trial and error as to what suits you. For example, nivea in the blue pot is a cult product but far too heavy for my skin.
For a really good cheap moisturiser i like the aldi rejuvelate day cream and serum.
For best cheap mascara - essence from wilko - no more panda eyes is brilliant and really cheap. Also avon powerstay. I am really prone to mascara giving me panda eyes and have wasted so much money on various ones.
Lipstick, as much as i love mac lipstick, i also find the primark matte lipsticks honestly just as good. Obviously you dont have the range of colours, but at about £2, i use their nude shades most days.

homemadefries · 31/05/2021 11:38

Everything I've tried from Beautypie has been amazing.

I've basically ported over all my skincare, and makeup is going that way too

homemadefries · 31/05/2021 11:39

@MayflowerMaisie

After years of using high end mascara, I needed a waterproof one for a funeral so nipped into Sainsbury’s. Discovered Maybelline Lash Sensational it’s amazing! Things that work every time are aveeno oatmeal body lotion - the one in the squeezy tube, and flexitol heel balm.
That heel balm is nothing short of magic. Even my pedicurist couldn't believe the difference
Blossomtoes · 31/05/2021 11:51

I’ve always used high end skincare products but am a total Aldi convert. The balm cleansers and rejuvenate day cream are excellent, so are their Sisley Black Rose dupes - there’s a mask and a day cream. I’m never going to stop using Sisley Black Rose oil though, even though it’s £££.

apricotparfait · 31/05/2021 12:00

The Naturally Radiant range from Superdrug is fantastic especially for the price. Of particular note is the Hot Cloth Face Cleanser and the Glycolic Tonic 5%, the renewing night cream, and the eye cream but all are worth buying imo. Also, they have a half price offer on atm, but they regularly do tbh.

LaBellina · 31/05/2021 12:04

Nivea soft cream
Catrice 10 Rosywood Hills nail polish
Essie Angora Cardi Nail polish
Kiko Milano cream concealer
Kiko Milano lipsticks

KillingMeDeftly · 31/05/2021 12:05

Hawaiian Tropic SPF30 Air Soft facial sunscreen. It has a nice glow to it (without being overly glittery/shiny) and every time I wear it I get complimented on how nice my skin looks. Only about £6 in Boots.

DifferentHair · 31/05/2021 12:11

Maybeline ink crayon in Lead the Way is an excellent dupe in terms of tone for Charlotte tilbury's pillow talk. I also find it longer lasting and less drying
