Ok so I'm more of an ugly sister
I have to go out tomorrow to a dinner/dance type thing for dh work.
I had a baby some months ago and have really struggled to loose the weight this time, hence NOTHING I own fits me (and I mean nothing I'm about to go and get some simple black trousers for work tomorrow because I have no others)

Does anyone have any idea what I can wear? preferably not too expensive since I really hope I loose the weight and we NEVER usually go out so I wont get much chance to wear it again.
I'm short a size 14 ish that wants to be a 10 brown hair brown eyes and have loads of extra weight around my abdomen and lower chest

Any ideas gratefullr received (I live in London so lots of choice re shops) I have no idea whether it will be all long dresses or not

Are you prepared to wear major sucky-in pants? I am in the same boat sizewise, and managed to squeeze back into a size 12 cocktail dress with the aid of Spanx. Not altogether comfy but great for hiding the tum.

Do you think maybe simple slinky black (v slimming) with great accessories?

1dilemma · 16/11/2007 20:58

Major sucky in pants didn't do it for me after my last baby bt I'll try anythign I can do by 6pm tomorrow!!
Black slimming would be fine but I sooo hate shopping I have no taste and wouldn't know where to start.

Thanks for your reply

MissLapinToYou · 16/11/2007 21:27

Start with one of these?

Flattering or too loose?

1dilemma · 16/11/2007 21:28

Presumably I put something on over the first

Second looks great but is it a dress or a top?

Debenhams is the place, they will have the spanx - and you can try them on too

Buy them first, then go to the fashion dept and look at everything there. There are loads of strapless 'prom dresses atm, some come with little shrugs for the arm issue. High High heels would be my advice with spanx you will take off at least a size, also Debenhams are not TOO pricey really. You could always wear it and sell it on ebay for someone else at Christmas!! Make back 1/2 themoney!!

Whats your budget?? This is good value black dress or there is his to cover tummy which look to be nice. Wear something like cover up and you are all sorted.

This is one time that Debenhams really does the job If I were you I would go in 1st thing (arrive as early as poss and literally grab an assitant and go for it!!

crunchie · 16/11/2007 21:46

You can also get a makeover at the beauty counter while you are at it!!

1dilemma · 16/11/2007 21:49

Debenhams is looking very promising thanks

So do I just go up to a beuty counter and say do your worst then

Before legging it round the back and scrubbing it all off

You see I think I might be slightly phobic about shopping!

1dilemma · 16/11/2007 21:52

This dress is amazing post baby, someone wore it to a work function the other night 4 months post birth.

Here

It's in my opinion the perfect dress, not too short, covers arms, skims tummy, black so slimming and has a bit of sparkle!

Good luck! Topshop Oxford Street's blow dry bar is great if you need a quick fix hair wise

MissLapinToYou · 16/11/2007 21:58

oooh that is pretty

1dilemma · 16/11/2007 22:13

very nice size 12 only on website!!
