I'm getting little wisps is skin at the bottom of my nails that I have been peeling off to then reveal red raw strips. Ouch. I've tried Tropics Tananu Balm and hand cream but they're still there and so sore. And ugly! Any ideas what to use? Thank you!

I use Vaseline over night on mine. Sometimes I snip them slightly with nail scissors if they’re really bad. Normally they feel much better by the morning.

I find I get these when I don't wear gloves for cleaning - Flash is the worst culprit. The only thing that helps is lots of hand cream (L'Occitane Shea or Vaseline Intensive) applied hourly and wearing rubber gloves. Strangely, I'm not as susceptible when I have acrylic nails on, even though the cuticle is still exposed.

Any oil will help, even olive oil from the cupboard if you have some. Rub into cuticles regularly, and yes to pp suggestion of using rubber gloves for washing up!

Oil is messy, so careful putting it on before dressing etc. When you get time, grab some cuticle oil which will be dryer than others abs not ruin your clothes. Vaseline overnight is a good shout too.

If they’re really sore, a touch of sudocrem will fix that overnight.

I did a lot of cleaning Friday and mostly with gloves but the odd area without or where I've grabbed a cloth without thinking.
I've got some solar oil so will put that on my desk and put Sudocrem on tonight. Thank you!

I use Bert’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream when this happens- looks so much better in the morning. I should use it every night really but I forget. It smells lovely!

I get this. I recently bought a tube of Dr Paw Paw balm (massive 100ml tube for £2.99 at Home Bargains) and it cleared it up in two days. It also cleared up my angular cheilitis (sore cracks in the corner of my mouth) which I've had for years - not even the stuff I got on prescription had managed to do that!
