Talk to me about night cream - is it a good idea?

I've always avoided it as I'm spot-prone and didn't want to add more grease. But now I'm heading for 40 and my skin is getting dry instead. Had a facial recently and she said I should use night cream, but she would say that wouldn't she?

So should I? - and can anyone recommend a good one? I like natural-type stuff eg dr hauschka, origins - and I don't want anti-ageing, as that always irritates my skin.

I would if your skin is very dry. I often use my day moisturiser (Estee Lauder Daywear) at night because it's one of the few creams that my skin soaks up without leaving an oily shine on the surface.

I'd go and talk to the staff at Dr Hauschka etc blag a few samples, try them out over a week or so and then go back and buy something.

Do you use a night eye cream? If not, I would at least do that.

A specific night cream is a good idea imo. Different job to the day ones and your skin can absorb it throughout the night.

I use a night cream most nights, after I wash my face/remove make-up. At the very least it's nice to wake up with a clean, soft face! I'm a big believer in eye cream at night, too.

I use Dr Haushka and Julique products and they say that you shouldn't use cream at night so that your skin 'learns' to moisturise itself. The key is not to dry it out with cleansing. Also the day creams are very protective. I love this system, and think it really works. I would massively recommend Julique to ANYONE, but it is expensive.

Thanks - sorry I disappeared, thought this had fallen off...

Think I will try a mild one...
