Sick of living in Jeans - Help!

I seem to have fallen in to a rut where I rotate the same few pairs of jeans and that's all I wear!. I'd blame it on the past year - restrictions and lack of shops open but I'd be lying. I've been in a serious fashion rut for years that I desperately need to escape from!
I wear a uniform for work so don't have to buy clothes for that.
What are your go to shops for everyday wear? Just turned 50 so think I'm a bit to old for Forever 21 or Topshop.

Hush do nice casual trousers that aren't worky at all. If you like chinos then Joules or White Stuff usually do decent quality versions in wearable colours.

For very casual I've bought the Boden Hareem trousers and they are brilliant, not overly baggy, but soft and comfy, look nice with a half tucked breton.

It's not often popular in here but I like M&S for this sort of thing. I love that there's often various leg length to choose from and the quality tends to be good.

I've bought these recently and they are really flattering on.

It can be a bit of a faff but it's worth a trawl through their website to find what you like. Lots of trouser options as well as dresses which I love instead of jeans.

I personally am not a huge fan of jeans. I wear coated jeans all the time though as I think they’re just a little bit smarter - Hush did great ones, they don’t seem to be on the website now but maybe they’ll be back in autumn. I also have an a line knee length leather black skirt that cost a fortune but is one of the hardest working things in my wardrobe. I wear it with absolutely anything I would wear with jeans - T-shirts, jumpers, cardigans, shirts. If it was burnt in a fire I’d replace it immediately, it’s so good. Is there anything like that, that appeals to you? So you’re just swapping out the jeans, not your entire look.

M&S have some nice things in at the moment, I bought some nice combat style trousers in there a few weeks ago and they are so comfy, I also love harem trousers, Lucy and yak do some nice harem style trousers (in plain colours as well as patterned).

I usually end up with something from fat Face. Often need a cami under their dresses, they can be too low cut for my liking. I got quite a bit from white stuff for a while, but had problems with the tops shrinking when I washed them (carefully). Mint velvet, hush for jeans. Jigsaw and Hobbs sales (can't bring myself to pay full price!)
I don't find it easy to find things I like, and I am forever mourning the loss of decent, good quality m&s basics. I am now resigned to ordering loads, and returning most of it.

Why do you wear jeans FlorencenotRatchet ? Why do they work for you? I ask because there's no point investing in clothes which don't suit your lifestyle.

I live in jeans most of the time too - I look good in the right style of well fitting jeans, and I dislike carrying a bag - I like good, usable pockets! I'm outdoors a lot too.

I keep trying to wear more dresses - I do have several which I like and suit me but there's no getting away from the fact jeans and a shirt are pretty much perfect for my lifestyle, and when wearing a dress the impractical aspects strike me regularly throughout the day.

I think start with your lifestyle and think about why you've got into the habit of wearing jeans every day (you wear jeans, not leggings or joggers - I bet you like/ need pockets too Grin, or know they suit you).

Perhaps linen trousers could be a good jeans substitute to try? I've got a pair on order from poetry but they're very expensive and I'm half hoping that I don't love them --then I can send them back znd use the money for a third pair of 501s, which suit my shape and have brilliant pockets...).

Totally agree with starting with what you do and it need to fit your lifestyle. I have about 5 outfits on circulation for non work days. Jeggings and sweater for supermarket days, jeans and jumper, tights skirt and boots for the cold days, summer skirts and denim jacket, culottes and t shirts for the warm days I hope we get soon. Leggings and tops for days at home.

I think to better to think in outfits too. Not sure you can just swap jeans with something else? Get lots of inspiration from Instagram (although it's very marketing heavy). Buy from hm /next /Tesco /ms primark

Thanks for the replies. Will definately be checking out hush and have bought a few pieces from mint velvet.
I've seen the M & S Combats online so will have a look in store - I always find their sizing a little off. Usually a 12 bottom but anywhere from 8-12 in there

That's a really good point. Don't get me wrong I'm comfortable in my jeans but I when I'm going out just feel like I'm wearing the same things over and over. I've never been a dress/skirt person but just want to be a bit more glam when I'm out in the evening
