Hairy Chins

Maggieb52 · 15/11/2007 22:57

Apparently - according to a beauty therapist I used to go to - it is better to cut the hairs that pop out on chins and upper lips rather than pluck. Then have them electrolosised during their growth stage. Plucking causes the root to split and then more hairs grow from that root. Any beauty experts have comments to add? On this advice (This sounds very weird) but the odd ones that I have - i cut with a baby nail clippers as you can get right on the skin without too much fiddling, pulling skin taut etc. A silly Mums worry on this fine winter night!!

Because they get paid more for electrolysis? So why do they pluck your eyebrows if that makes them grow bushier?

moondog · 15/11/2007 23:06

I wouldn't listen to anything about biology or physiology from a beauty therapist.

BoysAreLikeReindeer · 15/11/2007 23:06

See, I heard this from my beautician too, but don't belive it either.

Think it's a ruse to part me from more of my hard earned cash.

Pluck orf, I say

MamaG · 15/11/2007 23:08

or embrase your inner billy goat

RosaLuxMundi · 15/11/2007 23:08

I have one on my chin I have been plucking for years. It has never multiplied.

pointydog · 15/11/2007 23:11

oh just pluck

it's about Age, not hair-multiplying abilities

Maggieb52 · 15/11/2007 23:11

billy goat is not a look that will go with my possible new boot purchase!

moondog · 15/11/2007 23:13

Piffle · 15/11/2007 23:13

This time of year is just the ticket for growing them out
You can hang xmas decorations off them

pointydog · 15/11/2007 23:14

BoysAreLikeReindeer · 15/11/2007 23:14

I'm a plucker

Know I'll be one of those old ladies you see with grey beards one day

gibberish · 15/11/2007 23:18

Hairy chins? So when you 'jokingly' describe yourselves as 'big hairy truckers' you are telling the truth?

PeachesMcLean · 15/11/2007 23:19

Sally, i think your friend should change to waxing and let us know if there's a difference. Scientifically speaking of course.

Maggieb52 · 15/11/2007 23:19

how long can a chin hair actually grow. I did not even know I had one. It is very fine and blonde even though I am brunette. Don't want it to get worse

waxing destroys some hair follicles over time.

but for those wispy bits on the chin best to have them removed with laser hair removal.
