Ugg boots?? Should I invest in a pair?

OK girls - need some fashion advice. Don't want to end up as mutton dressed as lamb so here's the deal. I have "this" which is fab for breastfeeding in (better than the usual stuff you normally see at H&M etc.) and usually wear it with jeans and ballet pumps but it is getting a bit cold for my tootsies and I sprained my ankle the other day so can't fit into my normal boots. (an excuse really!)Everybody seems to be wearing fake UGGS so I thought I would give it a go. Went to House of Fraser today and real UGGS (Tall Black version) are £180. Couple of questions 1. Are they past it? 2. Am I too old at 39?
Help - I feel the urge to splurge and bury the cost in the food shopping bills and say they are fakes???????

on my chin even

Say no to the Ugg boot. An icky and thankfully dying trend.

Maggieb52 · 15/11/2007 22:48

oooh! just googled and found them for £75 plus delivery but still a bit steep for a massive splurge. The top is fab though. Any of you fashionistas going to the christmas party?

I don't think those ones in your link are 'real' UGG boots as the label on the back is different.

TheChickenLady · 16/11/2007 09:29

I'm in my 30s and just bought my first pair of Uggs.

ADORE them, they're comfy and sheepskin-lined all the way down to the sole, my feet stay warm and comfy and I think I shall be wearing them until I'm 100.

Your feet feel like toast, even on a freezing day.

I know I've missed the boat fashion-wise but who cares. And I bet they'll be my cheapest shoes ever on a cost-per-wear basis.

onefootinthegravy · 16/11/2007 09:29

Sorry, I think the're vile - I've often wondered if there called Ugg boots because the're soooo ugly - No offence

I have a pair, bought them in the states, so much cheaper. They are not knee length, but the short version. I really love mine. I wear them under my jeans and you can't tell they are uggs, just look like any other boots. They are so comfy and I can wear them without socks when I am in a rush in the morning. I wear mine all the time, except when it rains. Oh I am not a young thing either!

smeeinachristmastreeinnit · 16/11/2007 09:56

buy them! they are fab!
im 36 and wear them, dont see what age has to do with it,blimey if they keep your feet warm and are comfy buy them!!

BarefootShirl · 16/11/2007 11:58

Tried a friend's pair a couple of years back - looked OK but my feet were far too hot. But that's just me as I don't like closed in footwear. However, apart from that I would probably have a pair - and I certainly don't qualify as a "young thing" anymore (I wish!) - if it's comfortable and you like it then do it.

mrsmalumbas · 16/11/2007 12:11

Sorry but I think they look like you have gone out in your slippers.

If young, extremely trendy and with long skinny legs (like my friend who always looks gorgeous in hers, especially when accessorised with designer sunglasses) then go ahead.

If shortish, and slightly overweight like me, avoid like the plague.

Maggieb52 · 16/11/2007 12:47

so that's fab -looks like I wont be wasting £180 at House of Fraser so. But that makes me wonder what I should wear with "this top". Black Trousers- slim leg or boot leg cut, blue jeans and ballet pumps or biker style tucked in or out. Oh the dilemas. Baby awake - gotta go XXThanks for your help
