Most long lasting Jo Malone perfume please!

Looking for a sweet smelling JM perfume but, due to the hefty price tag, would like it to be long lasting.

Does such a scent exist?

PS I usually go for perfumes such as Flowerbomb, Black Opium and La Vie Est Belle.

English Oak and Hazelnut!

Do any perfumes really last long these days? I heard that they had to take the chemical out of perfumes that give them proper longevity (around about 2015ish?) and they've all been quite weak since. My favourite Coco Chanel used to last days and now it doesn't even smell the same as it used to as well as disappearing within hours.

Anyway, all Jo Malone perfumes are quite weak imo, especially for the price. Pear & Freesia is quite sweet smelling, and I probably could smell it longer than the others because it didn't suit me. My favourite is Wood Sage & Sea Salt but the smell tends to evaporate the minute I've sprayed it, so I get it from Perfume Parlour these days as it smells and lasts exactly the same and is a tenth of the price.

I bought a diptique perfume and it lasts all day and night

MissBattleaxe · 13/05/2021 23:23

@AndreaMarteau that's not true. Many perfumes have excellent longevity. There were some IFRA regulations around some ingredients that were banned or restricted but it was nothing to do with longevity. Anyway, perfumers use lots of different vases and fixatives so there's no singular formula for all perfume

MissBattleaxe · 13/05/2021 23:23

Bases not vases

MissBattleaxe · 13/05/2021 23:25

Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir lasted ages on me because I didn't like it. Sods law! The nice ones don't last long at all on me. Try a different brand. I recommend Atelier Cologne. They smell like colognes but have amazing lasting power.

mathanxiety · 13/05/2021 23:31

Bluebell lasts on me.

But how long it lasts can be a very individual thing.

partyatthepalace · 14/05/2021 00:11

None of them from memory

But if you put the perfume on top of the body lotion it should help

Scottishandconfused · 14/05/2021 00:22

So they do an intense range which is more long lasting.
I love Bergamont & Oud.
Based on your favourites you might like Tonka Bean & Myrrh or Velvet Rose & Oud

Geamhradh · 14/05/2021 08:40

Jo Malones are simple, linear scents and mainly cologne (up to 80% water) so aren't likely to be lasting.
I have a sample of the Myrrh and Tonka wotsit and it's very very sweet and heady (it's the sort of perfume teenage girls seen to like if my DD is anything to go by- Black Opium, that sort of vibe- definitely not for me!)
If you look on Fragrantica for the notes in the perfumes you like, they will suggest perfumes with similar notes.
Personally, I wouldn't recommend any JMs as IMO you're paying for style over substance. There's better stuff out there with similar notes.

MissBattleaxe · 15/05/2021 19:21

@Geamhradh it's actually 80% alcohol, not water, but yes, I agree they're not very long lasting.

pommedeterre · 15/05/2021 19:28

Pomegranate noir lasts like a more normal perfume. It works for me too, hoping I get some this year!

Justcashnosweets · 15/05/2021 20:15

I have the Tuberose Angelica in the black bottle. My absolute favorite scent, and it lasts for ages.

BeaLola · 15/05/2021 21:52

They don't last long - my Estée Lauder Knowing and Chanel No 5 or Coco Mademoiselle last all day

Etherealhedgehog · 15/05/2021 22:07

Blatant hijack (sorry!) but does anyone know of anything with similar notes to the tuberose angelica? I have a sample and love it but just can't justify paying that price for a whole bottle. I don't really wear perfume atm but I would if it was that one!

ChrissyPlummer · 15/05/2021 22:10

I used to love JM and always had Nectarine Blossom & Honey and Blackberry & Bay on the go. They don’t last at all well. Miller Harris are much better I find. If you like sweet scents ‘Lost in the City’ is lovely.

Bluntness100 · 15/05/2021 22:12

The trick to making perfume last is to layer it with the body lotion. You’ll still smell it the next day.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 15/05/2021 22:26

Why does it have to be Jo Malone? Why not buy something that is known to be a bit more substantial?

PinkArt · 15/05/2021 22:36

Jo Loves are similar but I think are more long lasting, if it's specifically a Jo Malone vibe you're after

SnarkyBag · 15/05/2021 22:41

I used to love vanilla and anise and it lasted ages. They discontinued it and I never found anything else that lasted as well in the JM range.

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 16/05/2021 08:49

I like the Les Colognes Hermes range for this. (The Un Jardin [...] ones might work too.) Considering they’re colognes they last well. And there are loads to choose from, and lots of different very natural-smelling scents.

Onynx · 16/05/2021 08:55

On me I find Pomegranate Noir and Dark Amber and Ginger Lily last the longest - I have many bottles of Jo Malone but ultimately no, they don't last long on. I tend to buy the smaller 30 ml sizes so I can fit in my handbag and reapply and also don't get fed up half way through a larger bottle. Many other brands last longer on me - Estée Lauder Pleasures, Knowing, Youth Dew, Lancôme Poeme & YSL Elle have fat greater longevity.

MissBattleaxe · 16/05/2021 12:33

Perfume longevity can vary from brand to brand and from perfume to perfume. Personally, I usually opt for eau de parfum over eau de toilette but there have been exceptions. For example Dana Tabu is a cologne but has a good 12 hours on my. Atelier Cologne specialise in longevity and are worth the money. I also really rate Cacharel perfumes. Anais Anais and LouLou are amazing.

I think Jo Malone is overpriced for its poor longevity.
