Deep blackheads

Any recommendations for black heads? If my DH gets them, he just seems to be able to squeeze them out easily whereas I seem to have permanent fixture of blackheads that are mainly on bridge of my nose that seem deep rooted and never come out no matter what! I've tried face masks and strips and no luck. Anyone found any magic treatments?

A hair grip

dementedpixie · 12/05/2021 22:33

Sounds like sebaceous filaments rather than blackheads

dementedpixie · 12/05/2021 22:34

Think salicylic acid treatments are supposed to help

Aprilwasverywet · 12/05/2021 22:35

Proper blackhead tool. Bloody genius!

You know what works? Washing your face, lancing the spots with a sterilised needle then applying a blister plaster. Hydrocolloid dressings and pimple patches work too, but they don’t pull out as much debris as blister plasters. Btw this doesn’t damage your skin !

picklemewalnuts · 12/05/2021 22:42

Definitely Lance them first- just gently within the pore, don't break any skin. It helps release the plug.

If you can get a Hydrafacial, they’re great for this.

I use these. They're very good.

Tell me what and where to buy for blackhead tools?? My son had a corker I can't wait to sporn over

PoTheDog · 12/05/2021 22:50

Pricey, but I have a Foreo mini which is amazing for stopping me getting blackheads. 1 min in the evening and the blackheads on my nose and chin are vastly reduced (been using since late April). And my skin velvety smooth, I can't stop stroking it (which is probably not great in terms of black heads, but...!)

wingsnthat · 12/05/2021 23:54

@PoTheDog where/how do you store your foreo when not in use?

I just dry it off, particularly around the charging bit, and then keep it in the bathroom cabinet. It's not crammed in so there's airflow to help it fully dry out.

You can buy carry cases etc, but I've kept the plastic box it came in to use for holidays etc

LaBellina · 13/05/2021 07:49

Book a professional facial. They know how to deal with this.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/05/2021 13:34

Sounds more like sebaceous filaments.

If suggest using a glycolic or salicylic acid toner (Inky list do good ones) and a weekly AHA/BHA peel (the ordinary do a strong one!!).

Also, I can’t recommend prescription Retin-A enough for blackheads, acne, whiteheads - but also skin tone and ageing.

Dermatica do a free trial for a month and will take you from 0.015 to 0.050% Tretinoin (A strong prescription Retin A) and you’ll be glowing and blemish free after three months - promise. Some do go through a period where it gets worse before it gets better known as a ‘purge’ but it’s 100% worth it in the end.

pancakes22 · 13/05/2021 22:52

I had never heard of sebaceous filaments, how interesting thank you. I think that may be it
