Bags under my eyes (pic inc)

I used to be a great sleeper but since having dc, about 13 yrs ago, I've never really sleep through the night. Now menopause has hit, I have more sleepless nights. It's resulted in me getting really bad bags under my eyes.

I've noticed on my teams meetings that I can see them and I'm really self conscious

I know nothing will get rid of them completely but is there anything I can do? I already have a good skincare routine which consists of face wash, toner, eye serum and moisturiser. I'm 48

Ah you poor thing with lack of sleep! Sleep deprivation SUCKS.

I am fond of wine and am told it is the worst for sleep quality, so maybe if you drink, you could have a break from it and that might improve your sleep?

I also have the big dark circles and have no intention of quitting wine, so I'm considering fillers in my cheeks. Have an appointment to discuss next week so will report back if you like.

Op, they're not that bad, but they clearly bother you.

There are lots of temporary effect creams and serums, which would help, but obviously not permanently.

Have you tried pressure point massage? I think this helps when I'm feeling a bit puffy.

You put quite a bit of pressure just above the corner of your eye, going slightly towards the middle and hold it for 20 or so seconds. It feels slightly uncomfortable but not painful. Then sweep above the eyes in a kind of rainbow shape. Then sweep under the eye, from corner of the eye to outer, but very gently. Don't drag.

It can really help with drainage and water retention.

I tend to get bags and puffy eyes after a Chinese takeaway which is unfortunate and quite rare (but I can absolutely say, it’s noticeable the next day). Is it to do with diet maybe? Too much salt/wine etc.

I find if I’m off the 🍷 for a week, my skin generally looks better but I don’t want to judge you. Just saying that for me, at menopause, what I eat and drink does affect my bags, sadly.

You could try putting a gel cream eye product on, straight from the fridge? I treated myself to one of those Foreo Bear things last year. It was expensive but hey, no holidays since 2018/lockdown/no weekends away/days out... it seemed like a bargain. I would say it’s helped but I think it’s more to do with the gel you need to put on and the gentle massage action.

Try lots of water.

Sleep deprivation is bloody awful. I gave in recently and tried any too but it just made me feel like I’d had too much to drink, the next morning. I do use a lavendar mist thing as a last step after night cream. Now, whether it’s a placebo effect, I don’t know but... I think it’s really helped. And my skin is a bit glowy in the morning 👍

Ooops! Not sure what happened there...

Should say, I gave in recently and tried Nytol

Oh and @bigbaggyeyes... you have beautiful eyes. Unusual colour. Lovely.
