Denim jumpsuit - to keep or not to keep

Zengarden001 · 12/05/2021 06:59

So I bought a denim jumpsuit from Sezane. Mostly because I had to make the order up to get free shipping. It's arrived and it fits me brilliantly, quality is fantastic and it hides my lumps and bumps. However... a tiny voice inside me worries that it looks bit too 70s/Charlie's Angels for me to keep. As it's a jumpsuit, there's not a huge amount of styling options.

It's this one www.sezane.com/en/product/manhattan-jumpsuit/denim-blue

On me, it's much more fitted through the leg & not cropped.

What do you guys think, keep or return?

It looks nice but you need to feel confident when wearing something like a jumpsuit so if you don't think you will, I'd send it back.

torquewench · 12/05/2021 07:06

It'll be useful for when you need to change the oil in your car or do some decorating 😉

Mrstwiddle · 12/05/2021 07:06

Return, like you say, there’s not much you can do with it style wise

nimbuscloud · 12/05/2021 07:08

£145?

SussexDweller · 12/05/2021 07:08

Keep it! I've been lusting after a few Sezane jumpsuits but they're always sold out in my size.
Go for it!

Or post a pic for unbiased opinions?

Divebar2021 · 12/05/2021 07:09

You spent £145 to get free shipping? 😀. ( got to love that logic )
I do love a good jumpsuit ..... how will you be styling it? The full length aspect would throw me off personally because I wear mine with trainers and Birkenstock’s so I like them ankle length.

BikeRunSki · 12/05/2021 07:10

You spent £145 to make the order up? I normally buy socks or a T shirt if l’m doing that!!😀. My first feeling is that won’t it be very warm ? If it fits, you like it, and it’s lighter weight than it looks, then kept it. If it not one of those things, then don’t. It’s a lot of money if you are not sure.

listentotherainonthewindowpane · 12/05/2021 07:11

Keep it if it looks good on you! I have seen one at baukjen I like. .pondering whether to order!

Divebar2021 · 12/05/2021 07:11

I have a navy boiler suit which looks exactly like I’m off to do an oil change but this one looks nothing like that!

Branleuse · 12/05/2021 07:12

I love it and i love that its a bit retro and id style it up with hair and trainers to be even more so

Zengarden001 · 12/05/2021 07:13

Haha! Indeed...the logic is off but I wasn't expecting it to fit, or to like it. I often find it hard to find nice stuff that fits my bottom half.

I'll try & post another photo of the fit.

I always find the tiny voice of dissent gets louder as soon as I've missed the window of opportunity to return clothing. The voice is rarely wrong.

Zengarden001 · 12/05/2021 07:16

It's a think denim so I think it will be warm, can always wear something underneath on top half...but it does have short sleeves so possible that when it's warm enough to be in short sleeves you don't want to be wearing think denim? Confused

If you are short and sturdy legged I'd send it back . You'll look like a mechanic.

habibihabibi · 12/05/2021 07:18

It's a no from me- It's not flattering in the legs at all.

FreekStar · 12/05/2021 07:18

Keep!!!! If it fits brilliantly, is flattering and good quality then it's a keeper for me. 70s style is in right now!

Sometimes it's items like this, that you buy not expecting to like that are the real winners!

UnreasonablyPissedOff · 12/05/2021 08:51

If it fits you & makes you feel good then I'd keep it. You could wear it with tan wedge sandals & your hair up & some thin gold chains in the open neck.

Or trainers for a more casual look

I'm waiting on a shortsleeved jumpsuit from whistles & I'm very interested in that sezane jumpsuit in navy but they don't have my size at the moment.

Surely the whole beauty of a jumpsuit is that you don't have to style it ? You just add shoes! I love them & already have 3 and potentially will have 5
I'm 5ft 9" size 12 & I find them flattering

Sezane stuff is such lovely quality - I got the chuck trousers yesterday & I LOVE them

someonelockthefridgealready · 12/05/2021 09:03

I love it and if I could afford it I would have one. Obviously in the minority here though Wink

LuckyMcDucky · 12/05/2021 09:05

Oh tricky! I would say keep, as you say it fits and you love it. However, when I've had jumpsuit s in the past, I've ended up not wearing them. I think this is because they're a teeny bit less convenient for bathroom trips and this subconsciously makes me not reach for them when I'm deciding what to wear! Ridiculous really, but there you are. But I wouldn't spend a huge amount on a jumpsuit again.

So it depends on what you call £145. If it's loose change to you, then definitely worth a punt. Anyway, I bet it has good resale value on eBay etc. I imagine Sezane is one of those brands which is sought after on there as they do have a reputation for good quality.

Brief: probably keep!

EarringsandLipstick · 12/05/2021 09:10

It's gorgeous. Definitely keep!

almahart · 12/05/2021 09:18

I'm the same with jumpsuits. I'm always ordering them and sending them back.

I do like that one but it is a very 70s vibe rather than a casual one.

I know that if I don't want to wear something straight away it usually means that I don't love it and should send it back (not that I always do)

Duvetflower · 12/05/2021 09:25

Is it comfortable to sit and walk around in? It looks a bit splicey in the second photo.

Ninkanink · 12/05/2021 09:30

Keep it!! And make sure to wear it.👍👍

HelloDulling · 12/05/2021 09:32

I love it.

bunglebee · 12/05/2021 09:33

I love a jumpsuit/boiler suit so personally I'd keep it. I've been contemplating the Joanie denim one from Hush. But kind of mannish/androgynous is my style.

I think it's a good look and jumpsuits/boiler suits are still in. It's whether you will feel comfortable and/or make it out of the house really.
