I need a new pair of 'going out' shoes...

Black I think.

A heel, but not a massive one, as I am pretty tall and want neither to tower over DH nor fall on my arse (am unaccustomed to heels...).

Have quite big feet (size 8 and quite wide) - so anything too dainty might be a bit odd-looking.

Anybody seen anything that might fit the bill?

Am rubbish at smart shopping.

Did buy a nice pair of boots today, but couldn't see anything fancy that I fancied...

I'm not a shoe-knower (shoebie? shoe-er-er?), I'm sure someone will be along who is. I found my going out shoes for my size 8 thames barges last week after (counts on fingers..... 4 shopping/research trips). Got some from Dune. Mine are from our outlet shop so last season and not on the web site. Nice shoes there though.

Oh and I got a hauuuuuge heel. I tower over DH anyway (in flats) so what the hell

TellusMater · 15/11/2007 14:12

But I can't walk in a huge heel! I would have to just stand around, looking down on people

Shall take a peek at the website though, thanks.

You are indeed right, you cannot walk. You have to totter. I stride about manfully most of the time so in a way, the shoes of peril are quite good, in that they make me move at a more elegant pace.

However there is a point when some alcohol has been consumed but before you start lurching about like a tramp on a boat when magically you gain several skill levels in athletic co-ordination. Then you can do amazing twirly dance routines that you could never do in heels when sober.

The window of opportunity is quite small though. Then you just end up falling over or dancing in your tights.

Heels make me move at a slower pace for sure, but I end up sort of mincing manfully rather than striding.

Not a good look really

No the manful mince is indeed not a good look.

Of course the other advantages of not being able to move with any speed or security is you have to ask DH to do all the too-ing and fro-ing for drinks. Then you can sit with long legs all beautifully crossed and on show with fabulous shoes at the bottom.
