Jacket or cardi with this dress for a wedding?

I'm going to a wedding in August, it's in Scotland in a castle. I have seen this dress online tonight, lots of different colours, so just looking at the general style for now, but I'm worried I will be cold, I'm always cold!
So wondering what I could style it with just incase.

Jacket or cardi with this dress for a wedding?

Sorry should say, style it with a jacket/cardi/shrug. Or just forget the idea of a thin strapped dress and go for proper sleeves instead?

A jacket would be a lovely smart option. Definitely have something you can have on/off. I live in Scotland. August can be lovely & warm during the day but get a bit chilly in the evenings. Castles can be cold even in summer.

Thank you. That's what I'm worried about, I'm cold all the time! It's first night looking, so I may find something else.

I just had a look at Silkfred. They have some longline jackets that would look lovely over a summer dress. Layers are your friend!

That is a lovely dress. You could team it with a lightweight jacket. If there was an option, I'd bring a warm shrug type thing to sling over your shoulders if you get cold. Enjoy the day!

Jacket. I think a shrug would look odd, wrap would look messy.

Pashmina perhaps. It'll keep with the flowy look. I think a jacket would take away the look of the dress. Not sure a cardigan would suit either.

VictoriaLudorum · 09/05/2021 22:32

I would go for a slim cut, longer length jacket AND a pashmina. In the evening you can take the jacket off, but still have a bit of warmth, if needed.

A shawl might be nicer

Cleverpolly3 · 09/05/2021 23:26

It’s a lovely dress but could easily look shadowless with a jacket or cardigan etc

It’s designed to be worn as it is IMO

Cleverpolly3 · 09/05/2021 23:27

Shapeless not shadowless

How formal is the wedding? I'm far from any fashion expert, but the dress looks more summer BBQ than wedding guest style. If its a very casual wedding, then fine.

I agree that a light jacket, along with a light pashmina/scarf so you can layer and take off as needed.

Thanks everyone, I'll look at jackets.
I'll probably change my mind before I buy it, looking online as I just can't face the shops in person!
@Elouera I haven't a clue how formal it is, not an overally dressy family, so I don't think it will be very formal
