What to wear with this green dress?

I am planning to wear this dress to a wedding next month it’s from Coast.. what do you think would be best to use as a cover up a shawl or a jacket? If a jacket what colour and should I go for blazer style or cropped? I haven’t got shoes yet but I’m thinking maybe gold for shoes. I’m 5”1 so I am wary of drowning in a big jacket!

I would saw a shawl, hopefully you'll get nice weather and won't be chilly. I think a jacket would ruin the shape of it.

That's gorgeous!

I find shawls look quite messy. When is the wedding? Summer? Gold for shoes would be great. You could do a bolero, capelet or waist-length jacket, or something longer - i would go cream, gold, hot coral/watermelon or fuchsia pink.

The wedding is in June and yes it’s bloody freezing just now I hope it’s better by then!! I find shawls annoying but worried about spoiling the look with a jacket. Also worried a cropped jacket might look a bit mother of the bridish If that makes sense.. maybe a capelet is an option

Don’t think will be warm enough in UK in June for just a shawl, but appreciate that jackets that look ok with cocktail dresses can be hard to find! If you can find one, would go for a longer one that you can wear with other things.

Yeah it’s not the warmest but it’s indoors and I will be staying in the hotel so prob don’t need to worry too much about the weather.. might have a look at cape blazers they look quite nice

If the ceremony is in a church could even do a light, smart coat for that and any outdoors bit, then remove for the reception.

Dozer · 09/05/2021 14:29

Ah, indoor ceremony and room at the venue will help a lot!

Nataliafalka · 09/05/2021 14:29

It’s gorgeous. Fake fur bolero is perfect but probably too warm, I would be tempted to go for a leather biker if I’m honest.

HugeBowlofChips · 09/05/2021 14:52

I think you will be cold in June just with a shawl etc, and a bolero is going to ruin the line of the dress. I would go for a much longer but light jacket and whip it off in the evening.

What do you already have that might work? Not necessarily in the right colours of fabrics, but shapes. You can try them on and see what shape works best, and then hunt down something in the right fabric etc.

Halfpint2017 · 09/05/2021 15:17

I don’t know I’ll need to have a look and see what I’ve got in the wardrobe I have a few blazers that won’t go colour wise but maybe I’ll try them to see for shape

I'd say a jacket.

Notsoaccidentproneanymore · 09/05/2021 16:03

cropped cashmere

Soulstirring · 09/05/2021 16:47

Never would have crossed my mind but an ankle length kimono would look so stylish, @Wearywithteens makes a good suggestion!

UnreasonablyPissedOff · 09/05/2021 18:02

Have you already bought the dress?

I like the idea of a silk duster or kimono or a Cape with this, complementary colours and maybe a pattern- something a bit statement-y rather than a plain cover up. The cashmere cardigans are nice but don't feel in keeping with the mood of the dress to me. I just searched 'green silk duster' and quite a few different bits came up for inspiration
