getting older / menopause with no hair 'down there'?

I had laser hair removal on most other areas years ago and have been very pleased with the results. But I only had extended bikini line and never went for the full Hollywood/Brazilian look that has been so popular. I was never sure about that and I figured it could be done later if I changed my mind. I am in my 40s and starting to get grey hairs now, so the next two or three years are probably my last chance to get this done if I want to, and I'm still not sure.

If people are comfortable talking about it, how do older women who did have it all removed, feel about it later?

I am very sensitive in that area (eg it is itchy if the hair gets too long) anyway, so increased vulval sensitivity in a negative sense is something I worry about a bit WRT menopause. It's difficult to know in advance whether it might be more comfortable with or without hair, aside from aesthetic reasons (to whatever extent I find myself still caring about those, which is also impossible to know). Even if it looks strange to me, maybe I'd feel comfortable with it as an appearance, because it is quite normal for women of my generation to have had it and hairless may be what medics, dates and so on are used to seeing.

Can't help with the hairless experience.
My pubic hair is very different now though.
I would estimate 50% sparser and bar the odd grey wire much finer and softer.
No clue if that's typical.

Please don't base a decision about what to do with your pubes on what a doctor might think if they're in the area!
Have you gone full bald before? If not could you try a wax first to see what you think?

My sister lost all her hair due to chemo. Older than you but said it caused chaffing down there and was uncomfortable. Fortunately it’s now all grown back.

Perhaps try it for a while completely waxed and see how you get on.

I only started getting waxed a couple of years ago, due to itchiness and inflamation in the crease where my legs join my body when cycling. after a few extended bikini waxes I decided to try a Hollywood just as an experiment but it feels very right for me. Nothing to do with lacking feminist principles, wanting to please anyone else, just me. I go to a really good waxing place where you are in and out in not much more than 10 minutes - not much time to feel anything! Actually i have been surprised that it is not more uncomfortable.

Doctors see all sorts of things so I agree don't base anything on what they might think. In any case any thought would be kept to themselves.

If you change your mind and want permanent removal later you could always have electrolysis.

I've not had any hair down there for 3 years now having used a Phillips Lumea with incredible success. The thought of having pubic hair these days repulses me!
