Shoes for orthotic inserts

I am absolutely sick of just wearing the same horrible trainers all the time because of my stupid wonky feet. Relatively new to ortothics so have found it a struggle to get nice shoes. But I have recently ordered some shoes that work, are comfortable and I love but I am also looking for ideas.

I ordered white Paul Green trainers and pink Christian Dietz from here. Pricey shoes but so so comfortable.

You can filter your search for shoes with removeable insoles which is great. I'm going to try a few other from there.

I'd be interested in trying some sandals when the weather warms up. Any other recommendations?

I have a pair of these www.timberland.co.uk/shop/en/tbl-uk/women-footwear-sneakers/atlanta-green-sneaker-for-women-in-silver-a23qpbz3 but in an earlier version they already have supportive insoles but mine are removable.

Wow. Came for ideas but £150!!

TenCornMaidens · 08/05/2021 22:57

Thanks, goose!
Yes, savings having terrible feet becomes expensive. But I have to wear shoes literally all day as going barefoot is painful, so I will spend if I can afford it!

I do know. I have a huge cracked heel at the moment despite wearing shoes/insoles.

I have a hotter pair (which was expensive to me) but bizarely my karrimoor walking trainers are the ones that have always been fine with my insoles/not caused my leg pain. I am constantly on the look out for trainers that I can wear as often and look better than walking ones. But terrified of spending a lot and then finding a few weeks in my feet crack/I still get pain!

I haven't found sandals that work with full orthotics...

I'm v used to looking for "removable insoles" on a search. Occasionally hotter have less fuddy duddy ones. Clarks have some.

Many brands that seem good for feet its the insole that is part of their appeal, so if you swap the insole you're not actually getting the benefit.

(I must get back to the clinic to get another pair made..)

SavingsQuestions · 09/05/2021 04:47

A friend recommended vionic - but its their insole/shape that suited her. So she can wear their shaped sandals without the orthotic if that's any help.

I need enclosed heel and full orthotic so gave up on sandals. 😭

namechangefornaming1 · 09/05/2021 04:52

The place where I had my orthotics made trimmed them down a bit (narrowed) for me so it made it easier to find shoes, might be worth a try?

Summerhillsquare · 09/05/2021 05:04

I've never found sandals or pretty shoes that can take my orthotics but I do buy Strive sandals, which are just about supportive enough for my arches. Reasonably priced.

TenCornMaidens · 09/05/2021 09:18

Savings I totally get that fear. Being able to try them at home for a few days means I can get a much better feel for whether they are likely to work.

I do have a pair of sandals that can take my orthotics but will have to dig out the brand. The Website linked below had several sandals that looked somewhat promising. 'Pretty' might be a stretch tho.

Also going to try Converse Chuck Taylors as I think they have removeable insoles?

Vionic is on qvc U.K.

You buy them (sometimes in easy pay interest free instalments in some things) and can try them for 60 days (outside, wear as normal) and return if you don’t like them. You just pay postage both ways if you do that.

I’ve kept the majority of my purchases from them although occasionally I’ve had to return stuff. They are fine about it. I’ve never had an issue.

Well worth trying if you’re unsure about a brand and whether it will fit etc

TenCornMaidens · 09/05/2021 11:04

Thanks Eleiza I ordered a few pairs from Vionic that I ruled out quite quickly for my peculiar feet, but that IS REALLY good to know.

The sandals I have are by Waldlaufer.

Also, the Converse Chuck Taylors don't seem to have a removable insole sadly.
