Eyelid strips - has anybody tried them?

Something like this?

bauernutrition.co.uk/products/eye-secrets-eyelid-lift

My eyes are uneven, one is lazy and I'm getting more and conscious of it as I age. I wouldn't consider surgery so this would be the next best thing.

Yes, after Jennifer Anniston wore them. Unfortunately they did nothing for me but maybe she fared better by having someone apply them for her as I’m crack handed!

BigcatLittlecat · 08/05/2021 20:47

I've never tried them, but they look interesting! Something I would use!

Chatanooga1 · 08/05/2021 20:47

Cack not crack

lindyloo57 · 08/05/2021 22:14

I got some from ebay, they were rubbish ending up in the bin.

ThatOtherPoster · 08/05/2021 22:23

Apparently the eyelid surgery is realllllly quick and simple. The type of thing you can get done in a day under local. It’s not a terrifying procedure.

Lan2020 · 09/05/2021 22:28

I had hooded eyes so I tried them but I couldn't get on with them- they were always visible. Saying that, I'm rubbish with these things. I had eyelid surgery last month and it was the best money I've ever spent. Not that I'm suggesting you have surgery.

purpleben · 09/05/2021 22:38

How much is eyelid surgery? This is something I would consider if it wasn't too expensive.

RhubarbCustardy · 09/05/2021 22:42

I saw a utube make up session on how to disguise hooded or drooping eyelids and thought that was pretty good. Would be concerned about the damage to your eyelids when you remove those strips though as obviously the eyelid area is very delicate.

AltiC · 09/05/2021 23:52

@Lan2020 did you just have upper lids done? Tell me more about it please :) Where are you based?

I've been semi-considering this for a couple of years now but for the last 2 weeks have been at new job & wfh and after a lots of virtual meetings and seeing my face on screen so much I realise how tired it makes me look Sad and I am pretty sure I will get it in done in the next year or so. My main worry is uncomfortable dry eyes (which I already have to some degree since having my eyes lasered in my 20s). What's your experience been like?

MonkeyNotOrgangrinder · 10/05/2021 00:22

I think I bought some once but didn't use them for some reason. I think they looked too big or something.
I'm interested in other's experience of surgery though, and prices!

Lan2020 · 10/05/2021 00:23

Honestly it was the best thing I did and I found it very straightforward forward. I spent a lot of time reading 'realself' reviews and Q&A's, so did a lot of research into the had and good. However from what I've read and what my surgeon said very few people are disappointed with the results.
Everywhere will tell you to research surgeons and have several consultations. I only visited one as a consultant can be £250 a time. However, he was suitably qualified and said he had done many of these ops. He also had good reviews.
The actual operation was very straightforward and took just over an hour and then I was on a cooling machine for 2 hours after.
I had it done under local.anaesthetic, so a few injections and couldn't feel a thing. The surgeon and nurse chatted to me throughout. The only part I didn't like was the cauterisation machine (no idea what it's called) it buzzed and vibrated a lot and I kept worrying I'd suddenly feel it.
I had very little pain, didn't need any pain relief at all and after a week to you wouldn't know I had surgery as the scars are in the creases of my eye. On one side the scar extended a little longer due to the amount of excess skin, I was concerned about this at first but it's fading lots and I'm told it'll be pretty much invisible. I had no dry eyes or soreness at all. I was a little swollen and bruised for a few days, so didn't really go out for the week.
The only thing I worried about was one eyelid looked bigger than the other. I was told to expect asymmetrical healing but it still worried me. However.my eyes weren't completely symmetrical before and most peoples aren't. They've settled a lot though. Its a subtle difference for me and I was told this prior to my surgery. I don't have huge eyelids and there are some parks I'd possibly have liked a little different but they are 100% better.
Let me know if you want any pics ofr any more questions.

AltiC · 10/05/2021 07:13

@Lan2020 I would love to see pics please! I've seen some amazing results online when I've Googled.

Do you mind saying how much the procedure cost? It sounds like you had a v good surgeon, where is s/he based if you don't mind me asking?

DrMadelineMaxwell · 10/05/2021 07:19

This is the one cosmetic procedure I'm really interested in having.

babychange12 · 10/05/2021 07:23

Following for pictures
How much do they cost?

DragonMamma · 10/05/2021 07:24

I’m also interested in knowing how much the surgery cost, I have uneven eyelids and it’s the one thing that bothers me (that I can’t change myself).

Itwasgoodwhileitlasted · 10/05/2021 07:26

I've just had botox for mine but worried I might end up with weird shocked looking eyes. Would love to see a picture too please!

Bloodyfuckit · 10/05/2021 07:36

I used to use the eyelid tapes and they worked perfectly fine. I'm not great with false eyelashes, for example but found these incredibly easy to apply. No skill involved, you just slap them on.

I had eyelid surgery about 2 years ago. I didn't find it straightforward and easy and a quick 1 hour procedure. It's quite disconcerting having your eyelid skin sliced off whilst you're awake. Having the stitches out was truly awful and the bruising was excessive. The results are fantastic though, so all worth it ultimately.

Lan2020 · 10/05/2021 08:25

It cost £3200. It'll probably vary depending where you live but I got a few quotes and it seemed standard where I live. I'm in Wales.

Itwasgoodwhileitlasted I've had a Botox eyebrow lift in the past, it can usually achieve between 1-3mm difference. It's good for some people but did nothing for me as I had too much excess skin.

Bloodyfuckit sorry you had that experience. I'm.judt going by my experience and I'm sure it's different for everyone. When I read into the procedure, I found very few negative experiences with regards to the procedure and recovery. I honestly found it pain free (apart from a little tenderness after but never needed pain relief). I did have a week of bruising and swelling but I expected I'd be like that for a week at least. I genuinely didn't feel the stitches being removed at all. The nurse said generally if the stitches are out within 5-7 days and the area is kept clean and the creams used then most (obviously not all) people don't feel it.

I'll find some pics

Lan2020 · 10/05/2021 08:28

The first 2 are before and after
The last pic is as bad as the swelling got

The third picture looks a lot worse because he used thick purple pen to draw the incision lines, it wouldn't have looked anywhere near as bad otherwise. Let me know if you want any more pics of info. I've taken regular pictures of recovery.

Lan2020 · 10/05/2021 08:33

Also toucantoucaninatree you say you have a 'lazy eye' is it possible you have ptosis? If you you may need ptosis repair which requires repairing of the muscle (not just a skin only blepharoplasty that I had) and may need an occuloplastic surgeon.

barbrahunter · 10/05/2021 08:40

I had eyelid surgery 6 years ago, upper and lower. My eyelids had dropped so much that I didn't have a discernable lower eyelid any more. I was only going to have upper but I thought I might as well have lower too while I was there and it wasn't too much more money at the time.
I absolutely loved the results and my eyes still have an actual eyelid on them 6 years on. I had GA but I was fine and went home a few hours later. The bruising was pretty bad but there was no real pain.

Lan2020 · 10/05/2021 09:52

Also to add that although generally done under local anaesthetic as an outpatient, you can have it done under general but it costs more and I was quoted (I think) around £900 more. If having lower done I think they generally do general anaesthetic as it's more involved.
