Very rich anti-aging creams?

I've noticed my skin has been feeling tighter and dryer than normal. Perimenopause I'm assuming? I recently switched from the moisturising 'rich' formula that I've been using for a few years to one of their anti-aging formulas that has got great reviews. I thought it was great for the first week or so, but now minutes after I put it on my skin has absorbed it all and doesn't feel particularly moisturised. I got a sample of the Sheseido Vital Perfection Uplift and Firming cream in Hello Fashion yesterday so tried it out this morning and the same thing - it sinks in, but my skin doesn't feel very moisturised half an hour after applying. My makeup is to show fine lines under my eyes because its dryer there now.

I've always had very dry skin, so think I need something super moisturising. Can anyone recommend an extremely moisturising anti-aging face cream? Potentially something that most people would find too greasy? Because that's how dry my skin is.

Lancome renergie multilift extra rich is fabulous. I've tried a lot of the creams listed above (Nivea, Bader, Neals Yard Frankinsense and the Weleda one - I have a beauty calendar addiction) but it suits me best. In winter I add the Lancome serum for extra oomph. Sadly I think that's the thing though - you have to find what your skin responds to.

Whatever you use it might be worth trying the Elemis Plumping Pillow Facial on top of it overnight. I've been using it for some time (along with other stuff from Elemis as I love their stuff) but this particular product has made a huge difference. I used to wake up with pillow creases on my face sometimes and now I don't ever (and I have not bought different pillowcases).

Dermalogica super rich repair cream and nivea in the blue pot.

So I popped into Aldi while I was out today, they didn't have the Caviar one that was recommended so I picked this one up instead. Tried a bit on my hand and really not keen on the fragrance or the feeling of it. It felt very waxy while I was rubbing it on. Not like anything I've used before. Not sure if I'll try it on my face tbh. Has anyone used this one before? Is it ok? It was so cheap I just can't wrap my head around it lol

How does the Caviar one compare to this?

A lot of people rave about that Aldi one. I didn't find it moisturising enough for me personally

The Caviar one that was mentioned in this thread or the one below that I got? It doesn't feel very moisturising

Yeah it just doesn't feel right. I'll just use it on my neck lol

I've not tried that one, I did use the serum which was also good but not enough hence why I tried the caviar. You can sometimes get the caviar online if you wanted to try it.
ElspethFlashman · 08/05/2021 22:11

I actually really liked that red one from Aldi.

Ive been getting on famously with an enormous tub of Cerave moisturising cream. I bought it last summer, only use it on my face, and it's not even halfway down. It's lush!

Have also heard some people use the Nivea Q10 night cream during the day. That was always one of my all time faves in terms of a rich and gorgeous cream, but I haven't bought it in a couple of years. Its the one thing I'd go back to again and again though.

Stickytreacle · 08/05/2021 22:38

M&S Formula restore extra rich range is really good, I had a visible difference in my skin when using it.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 08/05/2021 22:42

I like the Nivea Sleep In mask.

BCBG · 08/05/2021 22:48

I've gone round the houses in terms of night creams and serums from the very top of the range to low priced high street brands - and then by accident (bought a Christmas present for DD) for a free sample of Charlotte Tilbury Magic night cream. I can honestly say that my menopausal skin, (a bit blotchy, fine lines, uneven tone) has been transformed by the cream - now only need to use it every other day. Have never recommended a product in my life but I have to say this one has been amazing for me.

FreshFaceTime · 09/05/2021 09:04

@WineGetsMeThroughIt I used to use the one you bought and really liked it but I just couldn't get past the new fragrance when they changed the formula so it ended up in the bin. I don't think it'll be rich enough for you given what you've said. The caviar one is completely different. Much richer.

LizzieMacQueen · 09/05/2021 09:35

I like the Murad retinol overnight cream. It has a nice smell too. I'm sure if you contact the companies they'll send samples out. It's not like they don't already have the samples to hand.

NotRainingToday · 09/05/2021 10:48

Clinique do quite a few choices of rich moisturizer formulated for "dry to very dry" skin. The night creams are especially good, there's also a SPF25 day cream in a yellow pot which is amazing.
My second choice would be the CereVe mentioned by pp.
Both unscented.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 09/05/2021 11:49

Thanks everyone. Will definitely look into more of these recommendations and try some samples too.

I would normally use my face oil before my moisturiser but layered it after yesterday. I've not used it for a while but it left my skin feeling really nice and moisturised throughout the night. Almost tacky to the touch which is how I like it lol. I read some of the reviews on the Charlotte Tilbury cream and it got some bad reviews because people said it left their skin feeling a bit greasy and tacky so chances are I'd like that one lol. But will look into them all. 👍🏻

I would add in a moisturising mist and oil if I were you, I have dry dehydrated skin and the mist is the thing that made the biggest difference. I use it after cleansing, sometimes layering with hyalauronic acid. Then oil, then moisturiser.

I use heritage store rose water with glycerin or pixi milky mist (heritage store is better IMO)

BusterGonad · 09/05/2021 12:09

Call me crazy op but why don't you just layer Nivea blue over your expensive brand you've just bought, that way you get the expensive benefits plus a major moisture boost.

BusterGonad · 09/05/2021 12:10

Just to add, I have 2 tubs of Nivea blue which I'm trying to use before I move to another country, I must admit my skin is loving it. Its all I use at the moment.

Do you have a link or photo of the Nivea blue one? I've looked on boots.com but it's a minefield and I see lots of blue creams.

I found using a cleansing balm helped a lot, almost as though it was hydrating before the moisturizer went on. I use Boitherm. Or rather I did… a quick search in my local directory informs me I can’t buy it any more. A single pot has lasted a looong time.

Legoninjago1 · 09/05/2021 15:05

Elemis does a good range of night creams and definitely has a very rich one. Not cheap but they work.
