Eyelid eczema? Hay fever?

For the past week I have had really sore, red flakey eyelids, I haven't used anything new I don't think? Could be a reaction to something though.
Can anyone recommend a super moisturising eye cream that might help and won't sting when I put it on!
Thanks!

I have this. I got some hydrocortisone from the GP and use it once in a while very sparingly. I use Aveeno moisturiser on my eyes now, and keep other face creams well away from the area!

I have this issue. It’s been on and off for years. After trying many combinations of pricey creams I find a quick course of mild hydrocortisone for a couple of weeks followed by a light application of aveeno once that has soaked in can really help. The other thing I sometimes use is Manuka honey dissolved in cooled boiled water and wiped with cotton wool around the eye area can provide relief if it’s itchy. Hope that helps but maybe get GP to have a look first?

I've had this recently from using the BS camomile cleanser. I bought a travel size Child Farm baby moisturiser and that sorted it out in a couple of days. Also agree with a PP that Aveeno is good round the eyes.

Thanks @Soontobe60 @Babymamamama @frugalkitty

I bought some aveeno earlier and it has helped already! Fingers crossed this sorts it, if not I will speak to gp.

I have been having the same for the last month. Not really flaky but red and itchy and a bit swollen sometimes. Also on my top lip and a really sore patch between 2 of my fingers. I have tried hydrocortisone and it helped a bit but the problem keeps coming back. I have been trying to eliminate different products to work out what is causing it. I have aveeno upstairs so off to try that now!

Hydrocortisone ointment rather than cream goes on same texture as Vaseline. Don’t tell the pharmacy it’s for your eyes though! And don’t use regularly

I've had this for over 2 years and only just got dermatology appointment- over the phone- am now using Boots Essentials lipsalve on his instruction on the actual lids and eumovate on above eye and below. Mine is linked to low oestregen and dry eye- I know this because I had 6 eczema free days eyes-wise when I was on strong oestregen patches 2 weeks ago which made me nauseous so had to come off them. He also prescribed fexafenadine for at least 4 months (!) and ordered a blood test for dust mite which was positive so have changed to anti-allergy pillows and duvet- hope something of this can help you!

allycat4 · 02/05/2021 21:15

I've had this for the last few weeks as well. Came from nowhere. It feels like some sort of allergy - my actual eyes are sore as well. Watching with interest.

justasking111 · 02/05/2021 21:26

I ordered fenafexadine for OH dogs, cat, pollen??? Piriton wasn't working. A few days on these he's a new man, despite him scoffing at them to start with.

Victoria1083 · 02/05/2021 22:23

I get the same almost every year and have been prescribed Eumovate

Ladybigbeach · 02/05/2021 22:39

I get this when I wear nail varnish. I use a tiny amount of hydrocortisone cream and don’t wear nail varnish anymore.

Clarabellawilliamson · 02/05/2021 22:46

@Ladybigbeach the only other time I've had it before was on my wedding day and I narrowed it down to the nail varnish (brilliant timing Hmm) I'm reluctant to use hydrocortisone if I can sort it without. Strange that so many seem to be suffering at the moment- maybe it is pollen related?

I get this too. I find La Roche Posey cicoplast barmen really helps. it does say not for eye area on it, but I've not had any problems putting it in there

MargosKaftan · 03/05/2021 19:44

Ooh I've had this for the first time this year. Put it down to eating cheap chocolate, but could be some sort of allergy.

For the aveeno, is it just the standard moisturising lotion or do they have a special face/eye area one?

Mxflamingnoravera · 03/05/2021 23:51

I get res scaly, itchy eyes if I use YSL touche eclat. It goes quite quickly if I stop. Some products go off so even if you've been using them for a while they can suddenly start to irritate skin, so it's worth checking that anything that goes near your eyes has not been hanging around for longer that 3 months.

Cassavaflower · 04/05/2021 06:55

So strange I have woken up with this. I had plucked my eyebrows and thought it was an injury. But weirdly I just used BS chamomile cleanser for the first time on Sunday. Also my whole face and neck are very very dry at the moment.
