What would you wear for…?

I’m terrible at knowing what to wear for different situations. Can you help with examples? What would you wear for…? (Age would be interesting - I’m mid 40s)

Meeting friends for al fresco drinks
Visiting a tourist attraction (e.g National Trust property)
Ambling round town

Assume not mid summer - I can manage summer okay! And winter actually. Spring and Autumn, with unpredictable weather is much harder!

Difficult to say, because the weather is so changeable.

Meeting friends for al fresco drinks - straight leg jeans rolled up, 'nice' trainers, a silk shirt or some sort of graphic t-shirt, biker jacket. Or midi dress and trainers, plus biker jacket.

Ambling around town - dress, trainers and biker / jeans, top and trench coat /

All of those fall into the same category for me (spring-autumn anyway), different coat and boots maybe. Jeans, cashmere jumper. Shirt or T-shirt depending on weather.

Jeans.

National Trust type place - jeans, boots, raincoat

I met friends for al fresco drinks today. We had a maximum of 10 degrees, so I wore warm clothes - corduroy leggings, a merino jumper, a scarf and a warm parka. By the time I went home I was very cold.

I would have worn the same to visit a NT property and to amble round town.

Spring and Autumn, with unpredictable weather is much harder!

Just take a jumper, cardigan, scarf, or light jacket with you. And a brolly if you don't want to get wet. Avoid sandals if it's likely to rain. If you have a car keep some bits in there.

Whatever I felt like, but if I were meeting friends and sitting down, my shoes would be less sensible than for the other two options!

GreyhoundG1rl · 02/05/2021 02:47

Are you looking for something suitable for all three? Or three separate suggestions.

DramaAlpaca · 02/05/2021 02:54

Probably not in the least helpful but I'd wear the same for all three. Jeans, ankle boots, my favourite leather jacket and a nice top. That's my style. Mid 50s.

As my granny used to say; that would take you anywhere 👍

Friends: smart black jeans, nice top, jacket/blazer, heels

National trust: casual jeans, wool jumper or long sleeve top, comfy shoes, warm jacket

Ambling around town: casual jeans, casual top, converse, parka

humansare · 02/05/2021 03:18

I'd possibly wear the same outfit for all three events, BUT change bags/shoes/jewellery/coat.

Boots/nice trainers, jeans, expensive looking jumper/blouse, and...

Meeting friends for al fresco drinks: take 'statement'/evening type bag, add big earrings and lipstick, maybe a trophy jacket...

Visiting a tourist attraction (e.g National Trust property), ditch the big earrings, swap the trophy jacket for a tailored mac, swap the small bag for a bigger crossbody,

Ambling round town: lip-balm instead of lipstick, keep the mac and take a tote bag I can carry shopping in.
