Bloody bras and armpit bulge

FlowersofSpring · 01/05/2021 17:18

When I first bought these bras they were tight around the ribs but fit nicely on the cup except for the armpit bulge. The cup comes back towards my armpit so all the breast tissue is in it. I do the scoop thing but still I have bulge and I'm conscious of this now that it's coming up summer. I measure 29" around my ribs pulled nice and tight. My boobs aren't big. I'm wearing a 34D and it's a moulded push up. Looks great from the front. Rubbish if I move my arms from my side. One bra is more comfy than the other. They are now on the tightest setting but feel both too tight yet ride up a little. I've googled this to death but am none the wiser.

I can't get to the shops at the moment t so I'll see what I can order from Amazon wardrobe to try things on.

Don't buy anything til you've remeasured using the Boob or Bust method, honestly it's sizing that's the issue. There's a FB group you can join or the website is here www.booborbust.com/

This video shows how bras are supposed to fit

FlowersofSpring · 02/05/2021 11:01

I've ordered some and will see how I get on. Still not convinced a 30 band will fit.

What size cup have you ordered?

FlowersofSpring · 02/05/2021 13:11

F but also an E just for comparison. Some bras have a muse deeper side to the band abs these will be better for me. I've done scooping today and when I scoop as much as I can I get a cup bulge so definitely not right and if I pull the band tight there's at least 2 inches too much yet it does feel tight.

Depending on the shape of your boobs you also might find it’s the style of bra which doesn’t suit. Molded cups are awful for me.

Musmerian · 02/05/2021 16:42

@FlowersofSpring. The cup size goes up as the band size goes down. So for example I am 34 H but sometimes I’ll wear a 36G in a different make. One band size down = 1 cup size up. Proper fitting is the key and once you know how that feels you’ll be able to fit yourself. Thanks to M and S I spent my 20s wearing 36C when I was a 28 F and it still pisses me off.

dementedpixie · 02/05/2021 16:49

The sister sizes of 34H are 36GG or 38G but the general idea is there.

Yeah M&S had me in 40C and I'm 36GG

Branleuse · 02/05/2021 17:10

what brand did you order. I find that if youre using the boob or bust method, then brands like freya and fantasie etc are really true to size, but places like m&s and debenhams you need to size up in the band

FlowersofSpring · 04/05/2021 19:48

Pour moi which I've never tried before. They've just arrived so I'll see how they are. I think the moulded one will be better.

The 30F is too tight on the band. The 30E is better but the cup is wrinkled at the top. The 30F cup is moulded and fits better but doesn't come far enough back to my underarm and there was still bulge with both.

In different brands they make their own sizes up though, this is what makes it so difficult with buying online. You need to be fitted into your bra. The actual size is a starting point. Like womens clothes in general. You might be a size 10, but there will be some shops you need a 12 or an 8 in, or some that dont fit you right in any size. With bras its even harder, as once you start putting wires and boning into a garment, or need it to actually do some work, like a bra does, then its even more important to get the fit right, otherwise you are not going to be comfortable nor get the shape you want.

Bra shopping online us so frustrating, but the method of sizing youve been given here is correct, its just hard to get right without trying on.
If the cup doesnt go far back enough, then id maybe try that exact bra in a 30ff.
The 30e that wrinkles at the top might be a style that isnt suited for breasts that arent full on top.

dementedpixie · 05/05/2021 11:18

I can't wear a full cup bra as it wrinkles at the top as my breasts are fuller at the bottom. I prefer a balcony bra or plunge. Style is a factor as well as size and I don't really wear moulded bras.

FlowersofSpring · 05/05/2021 11:30

Yes I have teardrop boobs and they are better in a moulded plunge. There's 2 more on the way today so I'll try those and see how they fit. I definitely want a deeper band to avoid the bulging.

Have a look at bellarosa lingerie on Instagram or Facebook.
Rosie fits from photos and takes all the hassle out of different brands having different sizing because she knows the fit.
Money well spent in my opinion and all done from home.

OnTheBrink1 · 05/05/2021 11:40

The trouble is with a smaller band is that I find it so so uncomfortablly tight- even putting up with it for a few days didn’t help and I found that after wearing for 6 hours, there were deep marks on my skin. It felt awful and this was a bra measured to fit in person from bravissimo before covid. They told me I would get used to it. I didn’t and that’s £80 worth of bra never worn. Such a shame

SorrelForbes · 05/05/2021 13:02

OP, moulded bras are very, very hard to get a good fit with. If your breasts aren't the same size as the cup then you will get gaping etc.
Much better to try and establish your starting size with a seamed/sewn bra.

I doubt that you need a wider band. It's much more likely that you need a bra with a bigger cup. What size did the Boob or Bust calculator give you?

FlowersofSpring · 05/05/2021 13:44

30F

Different brands are very different I've discovered. A Chantelle one I couldn't even fasten. A triumph one fitted ok except for the dreaded bulge. Both a 30F. Maybe I just have fat armpits.

After years of hating bra-buying sessions, I have learned that I am a 32F and that Chantelle and Prima Donna make me look better than other brands.
