Has anyone regretted having their eyebrows microbladed?

I really want to get it done! My eyebrows have been thin and sparse since having chemo. Obviously I realise that there could be issues if I chose someone not very good at it. But is there anything else I need to be aware of, like when it starts wearing off? And does it affect your natural brow hairs? Thanks!

I don’t know if I regret mine as they are done well but my skin seems to absorb the ink quite quickly so they go a more pinky/orange tone :(
My brunette friends who have dark brown dye in their brows don’t have this same problem though and theirs look great!

Bellabelloo · 29/04/2021 22:47

Oh! That's interesting. I was fascinated by someone's eyebrows the other day. I thought it was make up. It looked like she'd drawn them on with a pinky lip pencil!! I wonder if they were tattooed...

I'm quite worried about what they would look like when fading.

Nope, no regrets at all. Just make sure you do your research and find someone reputable.

CarolineForbes · 29/04/2021 22:51

Yes that sounds like that person had faded tattoos! I think people with darker dye fade to a more purple tone.
Like I mentioned, my friends don’t seem to have had such an issue with fading as quickly as mine but it is something to be conscious of that they are a commitment you will keep having to have topped up.

Rainallnight · 29/04/2021 22:53

Would you consider an eyebrow transplant OP? That’s my current obsession.

Anordinarymum · 29/04/2021 22:59

I had mine done a few years ago. It was a birthday present paid for by family. It cost £350. I went for a top up which was supposed to be a lot cheaper but when the woman looked in her book it was over six months since it was done so she charged me full price.

I was pleased with the results but the cost was staggering.

Since then I have used a pen by JML and copied what she did. I liked having it done but not the price.
If I were better off I would get it done again but maybe... look for another practitioner.

Bellabelloo · 29/04/2021 23:03

@Rainallnight Oooh! No! Didn't know it was a thing! Am off to Google!

Okay... what is an eyebrow transplant??? Gotta Google this!
Handsnotwands · 29/04/2021 23:04

Mine didn’t last long and now I have pinky orange smudges. I’d hoped they’d be gone by the end of lockdown but it looks like they’re here to stay (reputable place, v expensive, great initially)

mozerella · 29/04/2021 23:09

I'm really interested in this too. My eyebrows are dwindling away to nothing as I grow older and I hate having to draw them on every day. Seems like a lot of money to spend though...

tillytoodles1 · 29/04/2021 23:10

No, I love my microbladed eyebrows. As a teen in the 70's mine were shaved and pencilled in but never grew back. They look fab and I never worry when I'm swimming or sunbathing.

Snally82 · 29/04/2021 23:14

Yep!!! My skin just doesn’t hold the pigment well so I’m left with a very pale brown somewhat blurry addition to my natural brows. I have to now follow that shape with powder every damn day.

At some point I’ll get them sorted but the whole thing is and was very pricey!

EventuallyDistracted · 29/04/2021 23:17

I had mine done as powder brow tattoos rather than microblading by a specialist medical tattoo artist. I'm brunette with pale skin and had lost virtually the whole of my brows, she took great care to get the colour right, after nearly two years they have faded a bit but kept the original colour, I just paint a few hairstrokes on with a Maybelline pen. She advised that micro-blading wasn't suitable for my skin. I am so pleased with them.

FlyingToasters · 29/04/2021 23:23

I got combo powder brows and nanoblading and I'm very happy with them. It's only been 2 months however, so we'll see how they hold up.

Imo there are 2 key points to a happy microblading experience:

  • Take the time to find a good artist, make sure they take a long time to talk about what you want and on getting the shape right before they actually start.
  • Know what to expect. Every day I see another "shit have I made a mistake?" thread/post somewhere who are supposed by how dark/thick their brows are immediately after the PMU. Make sure you know how every step of the healing process works so there are no surprises and doubts.
CimCardashian · 29/04/2021 23:28

Happy with mine. They look their absolute best after the 2nd top up IMO.

I still need a tiny bit of pencil on the ends but it takes me 10 seconds max

PrincessGraceless · 29/04/2021 23:34

Love mine. They have made a huge difference, as she basically reshaped my (now grey) brows to flatter my eyes and (old) face. But as others have said - choose a very good artist who draws on the shape first and shows you. And again as others have said - mine initially turned red and faded very quickly, but she redid at no charge - apparently this can happen with certain skin tones. Good luck! X

Mrstwiddle · 29/04/2021 23:36

I regret mine, they looked ok at the beginning but a little fake although I was going for filling in scarce areas. Now they’re essentially a faded orange so I have to cover them with pencil everyday, I know I could get them redone but I really don’t want to.

Mrstwiddle · 29/04/2021 23:38

Oh and I went to a very expensive Microbladist in London to get mine done, apparently it’s normal for them to fade and need redoing after a few years.

GreyHare · 29/04/2021 23:44

I have greasy skin so mine fade quite quickly and become smudgey but I don't regret them as I quickly pencil over them as you can still see the basic shape, my eyebrows have thinned with age and one fell out almost completely, but my micro blading lady told me they aren't 'permanent' and that fading is completely normal and that top ups will be needed a few years down the line.

FrozenVag · 29/04/2021 23:44

£350 ?

Christ guys, just use a sharpie ... I do mine weekly and have fuckloads left for Botox and cake. I honestly think mine look great

That made me laugh :) What though if you make a mistake ? Can you wipe it off ??
Flissitytricity · 30/04/2021 09:20

I considered having my eyebrows microbladed in because my own have withered away to almost nothing and I could not leave my house without eyebrows!!!! The cost of microblading has put me off and I prefer to use pencil and brown shadow and just do my own. Costs nothing and takes 2 minutes. I read and hear all the jokes about slug eyebrows and have to agree with some of them as the micro ones can end up looking so overdone and very unnatural. No one has mentioned to me that mine look drawn on because I have mastered the art of making them look subtle but defined if that makes sense. Microblading is not a permanent solution so just like the botox/fillers you have to keep spending to maintain the look (obviously) and money to burn does not apply in my case.

EventuallyDistracted · 30/04/2021 09:32

I could never leave the house without mine drawn on previously, a dark haired pale skinned person with no brows is not a great look. No one ever mentioned to me that they looked drawn on but when I look back at old photos (especially all the ones I took when I was deciding what shape to go for with the permanent ones) I really wasn't doing a great job of it, with no natural brow left I found it very hard to get the position and shape right, especially if I was running a bit late to take the DCs to school or get to work.

Then there was the worry of accidentally wiping them off when hot through exercise or similar. Obviously no one was rude enough to say anything, who would? Now they are tattooed they are perfect every day and I can sweat as much as I like or swim and they are still there.
