Any tips for clothing after lumpectomy surgery?

Had a big old tumour removed from my breast last week. I've yet to start chemo / radiotherapy but with summer approaching I am conscious that my breasts are very different sizes. Reconstruction is way down the line as is filling my bra to try to even things up.

Does anyone have any tips on top half dressing for warmer weather please?

TIA

Had your breast care nurse not offered you some help? Lots of small prosthesis available to go in bras- think chicken fillets from the 2000s!

I had this over ten years ago. Mine are (still) noticeably different. I found that wonderbra refined glamour balconette bras really good for disguising this. Asymmetric tops are pretty good too. Best of luck with everything.

Thanks for the reply CushionsandCandles, maybe I'm jumping the gun here a bit, I'll be seeing her next week! I'm still very sore at the moment and just passing time daydreaming about new blouses and tops. I have a feeling I'll be getting lots of use out of my kimono jackets this year!

Thank you Martinisarebetterdirty, I will definitely check out those bras!

I think I am just trying to distract myself at the moment!

I remember the "indoor scarves are frumpy" thread from a while ago. Well frumpy or not I reckon my lightweight scarves will be a wardrobe staple Grin

Fuck what Other People say about scarves. I love 'um.

No real advice just best wishes and an arm squeeze.

I bet nobody will notice a size difference OP. I had a lumpectomy a few years ago and found it sort of filled in with scar tissue when it healed- it was fairly big too- over 5cm. If you feel self-conscious wear tops with horizontal ruffles, round necklines, and/or busy floral patterns. Avoid tight fitting jersey and go for cotton blouses, or hell type tops, collars or frills round a v-neck hide the boobs too.

Good luck with your treatment Op!

Flowers best wishes OP! Kimono jackets sound great, and any scarves you like the look of!

Sorry for not coming back, had a bit of a setback during the week.

Thank you for you kindness FlibbertyGiblets, FreekStar and MsSquishy.

Those tips are really good FreekStar, I hadn't thought of disguising with ruffles.

Hi
I had a lumpectomy three weeks ago and am also still very sore.My dent does seem to be filling up a bit though.
I am sorry to hear you have had a setback, it's tough isn't it.
Finding clothes not too much of a problem if you put the bad arm in first and wear loose stuff. The summer may be a bit more challenging though.
