Home hair dye?

Just wondering how many people dye their own hair and how you find it? Any recommendations for a multi tonal result? I'm weary of box dyes giving block colour...

I've just had my hair done post lockdown and it cost £155. As a new mum on maternity I'm not sure if I can justify the cost going forward so considering dying it myself. Any recommendations/tips appreciated! Xx

I use semi permanent Superdrug own brand. It does give a multi tonal effect because it only adds to my natural tones rather than replacing them with a single colour.

That sounds good!

I use Esalon and they are utterly brilliant, more expensive than the usual box dye at about £20, but so many people have commented on how lovely my hair looks!!

I use Esalon hair dye too and it's the best I've used. Beautiful, even colour and it doesn't frazzle the hair!

I've never heard of Esalon, will have to take a look...

If you are paying £155 for your hair in a hairdressers I'm guessing you have foils or something similar. You'll never get the same multi tonal effect from a box dye, I've learnt that the hard way but I hate parting with the money and the time it takes in the hairdressers. Honestly I've tried every brand going even Esalon but you'll never get the same effect as the hairdressers because it's how they apply it as well not just the quality of dye.
